Stuck at 25 fps?

about 2 weeks ago i launched the game and just noticed my frames will not go higher than 25. it even does it in the main menu. i don’t have my fps capped, my desktop resolution and Hz is 1920 x 1080 144hz, and i know it for a fact since every single other game runs perfectly fine except for overwatch. i tried uninstalling and reinstalling, repairing the files, looking on older posts in the forums, i cant find a solution. my drivers are updated, windows 11 is updated, i actually CANNOT find a solution.
my specs:
gpu - RTX 4060 (laptop)
cpu - intel core i7-12650H
RAM - 32gb 4800 DDR5
the game is installed on an SSD

For assistance in this forum, you’ll want to provide system diagnostic files for other players to help you.

Click here to show/hide DxDiag report instructions
  1. Press Windows Key + R, then type DxDiag and press Enter.
  2. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
  3. Name the file dxdiag and click Save.

After you have the report:

Your system has several errors happening, any of which could be reducing your fps.

  1. Main drive is too full for the pagefile. You need 15–20% free space.
  2. LEDKeeper is crashing in the background (disable from Startup & reboot).
  3. Betternet is crashing (also disable & reboot). If you’re not aware of this app, it’s likely malware.
  4. Several corruption errors for lsass.exe — could be due to malware, but likely requires a Windows repair.

my drive is about a third free of space now, betternet is a vpn, LEDkeeper has something to do with MSI Center and i have no idea how to turn it off on startup considering it doesnt popup with the list of startup apps. and for Lsass, i genuinely dont know what do with that since i looked it up and im finding things that arent related to “repairing” it. i did a full scan of the computer, an offline scan, ran sfc scannow, freed up storage, and ow still runs at 20 fps.

Are you extending your desktop to the external monitor instead of duplicating it? There was a bug with Windows locking fps at a low value.

Is the HDMI cable old or ragged?

Also, if your external monitor doesn’t match the resolution and refresh rate of the laptop one, it sometimes causes issues. (I see your Windows desktop display is set to 120 DPI (125%) for some reason too)

Edit: If none of this helps, you should reach out to MSI. They will know more about problems their hardware faces when running games on an external monitor.

i have no idea what fixed it, my monitor settings are on extend, not duplicate. i changed my size or whatever i changed to 100 instead of 125%, booted up overwatch and the fps issues are gone now?

Duplicate is preferred, as it’s more efficient than extend.

Sounds good.

i found what fixes the issue. if i simply close my laptop monitor, boot up overwatch, the game will run perfectly normal. i dont even have to keep the laptop closed, as long as i boot up the game when its closed itll run fine, so i can open my laptop again while playing.

Oh, I figured you would have tried that already lol. I’ll make sure to suggest it if someone else comes across this issue.
