Streamers get everything?

Just genuinely curious why do streamers in the content creator program- or whatever its called- get almost every skin bundle for free? They get the ultimate battle pass every single season which in turn gives them 2k credits that essentially rolls over to next season since most don’t use them as they get nearly every bundle for free. I would understand if they got the battle pass and a bundle at the start of season for free but almost every bundle is kind of wild especially considering a lot of them run an INSANE amount of ads during drops (nothing wrong with that I understand streaming is their main source of income) so they definitely should have the funds to get the bundles if they really wanted them. Same thing with mythic weapons they ALWAYS get them for free while the rest of us have to either shell out 40-80$ or skip a mythic skin from the battle pass. I just don’t see what the point of buying stuff in this game is if they continue to hand out their 50-100$ skin bundles to streamers multiple times a season for free.

Are you sure they arent just buying them? The occasional $50-$100 isnt that much of an investment if your job is literally to stream the new content for views.

Where was this information available?

.. Why does them having stuff mean you having stuff isn’t of any value?

It’s promotion for the game. More people seeing the skins.

for the same reason, celebrities are given free outfits, or that i am given free glasses, or furnitures for my bar…public advertisement.

Streamers?
The people who tend to make hundreds in an hour? Sometimes eating.
You are shocked they spend that money so easily?

Why do partners or whatever they want to call them get free things? So that you want to get into the cool club too, probably. I wouldn’t mind Blizz giving me BPs and free skins (more)
But I’m not a streamer. So it makes sense why my advertising doesn’t get them much. I’m just in it for the love of the game.

It’s just marketing man. They want to keep eyes on the game, and streamers are a big part of that.

CC’s are advertising for the game. Blizzard handing them codes (which costs blizzard absolutely nothing to do) so they can show off all the new stuff is not super surprising.

So we’ve kinda confirmed that yes they are getting “free” stuff. But that makes me re-ask: Why does them getting free stuff mean that you don’t want the things they have?

I also heard that some people are born into wealthy families and don’t need to work. I’m going to give up trying to earn a living. Life isn’t fair.

Well then in that case, if youd like to be a high profile content creator that advertises their games I’m sure they’d be happy to give you some codes too.

not really public advertisement when: 1. some of the streamers on that list dont even stream ow anymore 2. a lot of the streamers who play ow are locked to a specific role and character(s), when their role or character dont get a skin then they dont play it so how is it good advertising …

So you have to have proof of this happening, right? Since it’s such a widespread thing.

Also. Other games have creator programs too. If Overwatch has one, why is it an issue? League has had a partner program for essentially as long as it existed.

theyre not really advertising for the game , ur making it seem as if ow needs them when a lot of the streamers on that list got big because of OW not the other way around. as i stated before them getting each bundle every season is crazy considering that a lot of these streamers have built an identity within the ow community with a specific role/ hero so if that hero doesn’t get a skin how are they advertising for a hero they dont play.

I ONLY speak for myself when i say im not going to be spending anymore of my money when this game is handing out free stuff MULTIPLE times a season to ccs who already use drops to maximize ad revenue and they are more than capable of supporting the game as well if they really wanted the bundles. thats just my view on it. and im just one person blizz wont be affected by what i do.

i should stream myself but i think i would get myself in trouble with something like “everytime i lose a game i drink a shot of whiskey!!”

They ARE. They are showing the game in a positive (usually) light and influencing their viewers to play. This is how games work now. Streamers and content creators are the best way to expose people to your game. I don’t like it. I don’t like what it’s done and what it influences game creators to make (games that are fun to watch people play, not necessarily to play) , but if you can’t see it, you’re in denial.

Why is it crazy? It costs blizzard nothing, it takes nothing away from anyone else. There’s no stock problem. There’s no reason to give them less than everything. Again.. what does THEM having it take away from you having it?

You know what I don’t like? Influencer gifts for OTHER games that are actually REALLY cool sets of stuff like the Monster Hunter Wilds crate and the Pragmata box. I would buy that stuff in an INSTANT if it was available and the only reason people get those, is because they’re CC’s who make stuff people watch.

And you’re complaining that they get some skin that you can ALSO get if you want?

You’re wrong though. It makes complete sense to do what they’re doing to have more CC’s play their game in hopes they’ll be “big” OW streamers. More people streaming their game means more visibility, means more downloads, means more money. That’s how it works now. Nobody watches TV commercials, nobody watches ads unless they’re computer illiterate anyway. But people sure as heck watch their favorite streamer play stuff or watch interesting clips their favorite CC makes.

I don’t care if you ever buy anything from them again. I’m not a blizzard employee. I’m spending a little time trying to educate you a little and also maybe someone who comes upon this thread. Maybe you’ll learn a little something that will change your perspective so you won’t be getting yourself all worked up that someone who makes a living being CC gets a completely reasonable perk that has a real business reason.

Bro… please do not give yourself alcohol poisoning. We would miss you…

was that mean?

A few have discussed this on stream before. Sometimes Blizzard is running a special event and they will send the streamer a code to unlock cosmetics. Other times, they simply buy them.

Twitch drops are same. Occasionally they get a code. Otherwise they have a separate stream open to earn cosmetics.

It is literally how advertising works. And in this case, it costs them next to nothing to give digital skins to select players.

And yes streamers are advertising for the game. Doesn’t matter how they became big, people watch them, and in turn they keep seeing the skins. They might then decide to buy them as well.

Life isn’t fair, you’re not going to be given things just because others are.

Beats contracting them and paying them a living wage for their promotional work.

i think ur the one in denial. if some of these people stop streaming ow their viewership would decrease its a common problem in the streaming community especially if uve built ur channel around one specific game. a lot of the big names streaming ow have only consistently streamed the game nothing else. the ones who left to rivals or other games occasionally touch the game and have fair criticisms of the game but others just paint the game in a negative light

I tried. Go ahead and throw a little huff because someone out there who makes their living off streaming got skins you didn’t because they and OW have a mutual interest in making their viewers see OW in a positive light.
