Actually, they don’t make that much money on the AFK drop farmers. Flats said yesterday, that he earns way more on 7k Marvel Rivals viewers than he does on 23k OW viewers (I guess it was on the first day of Drops, normally he doesn’t have that many), where 75% is AFK - simply because the 7k MR viewers come and go, so there is a bigger flow of them, whereas the AFK just sit there forever, passive.
It’s the new thing on the block. After dropping over 3,000+ hours on OW for an income, they needed something new to work around. I don’t blame them either. OW is a damn near a decade old.
TF2 lost some of their players to OW.
OW lost some of their players to MR.
Another hyped up team shooter will eventually take over MR after the honeymoon phase ends and they make it over competitive like they’re trying to do so now.

why would they? they stoped loving the game long ago. only want views, some clearly were tired of it, now they have a real alternative, i have seen people with usernames on twitter about overwatch talking only about rivals
some of the streamers have played overwatch FOR 8 YEARS

maybe its nice to have something new for a change. although there was always Paladins but yea… that game is kind of clunky. i think marvel rivals is too somewhat but its MARVUL UNIVERSE!!

i dont care about the marvel universe that much so i hardly play it. i mean i will but overwatch will always BE MY GAME
…streamers play what people watch, not the other way around. If MR gets them more viewers than OW2, then guess what? They are going to play MR, whether they enjoy it or not.

Am I the only one for whom Rivals became boring after only three or four days playing it?
Maybe it’s because I’m casual and dont ever plan to get competitive with it, but I find I play two or three matches of Rivals, and then a few more matches of OW, and I’m done.
Not even a week after Rivals’ release, I was playing significantly less of both games.

The matches in Rivals just feel so ‘open and shut’. No stakes what so ever. And that’s a silly complaint coming from me, someone who doesn’t partake in competitive modes, but still… it’s like walking into a buffet and coming out hungry, something ain’t right lol
Streaming is literally a business in general. No different from what YouTubers do. Literally going to go to different games to get revenue etc.
Have to say it’s gets boring very quickly especially people just find broken heroes constantly play them.
Yeah makes sense ow is dying and lame, they want viewers, you can tell when they play or make videos about ow they are disgusted, now they are finally free after years of ow abuse
Mahvel is simply the better game? I would be suspicious of anyone still playing Overwatch. You know that’s a goblin just trying to rise up with the vacuum left by the exodus.
It is always still surprising to me that everyone on planet earth is not sick to death of Marvel and all of it’s characters yet. This is coming from someone who grew up reading comic books and loving these stories and characters. Even I am sick to death of Disney’s mass force-fed IPs.
With 6v6 available in Overwatch again I’m happy. I’ll let the hype calm down before I give MR a shot, if ever I do.
Yeah sure all the recent 0.5% pickrate heroes like mauga, venture, lifeweaver, illari, hazard, are so interesting compared to marvel
MR devs are smart they have chosen the og legacy design and not the modern ugly slop

More like if they don’t manage to make a name for themselves there and just like valorant, they probably won’t and will be back shilling for OW.
yea i feel that way as well. i play like 4 matches then meh… i might today now since i havnt played it for days.
ill probably only play 3 or 4 matches like usual and be done. for some reason i never tire of overwatch. probably because of sombra but thats a personal thing of course… oh and widow is the better sniper in the hero shooter genre
It is so much wasted time. I am more excited for Ultron, a character I ain’t even like, than I was for nearly all of those weird characters combined. Save for Mauga. I have a soft spot for him. The rest are like some Disney sequel rejects.

Funny you mention Widow, I feel like I never see her used in Rivals
yea she cant ONE-SHOT like widowmaker can. the one-shotter is that hanzo copy or yea i mean the original arrow guy hawkeye (way before hanzo, still its hanzo…)
i wonder if they will buff her someday
