Streamers and Pro Players Ruin Everything

This may be an unpopular opinion, but streamers and pro players really ruin this game. This game panders to the top 1%, the same 1% who are often toxic and ruin this game. There is a certain pro streamer and former pro player (who I wont name, but you know who I am talking about) was recently banned for being very clearly toxic, yet their was outlash, why? This game shouldn’t be balancing heroes for the upper tiers, but masters (or diamond) to gold. Whats more important, balacing for the majority or the top 1%? Mercy’s pre valk change’s rez was used a lot for tempo rezzes. But now its on a 30 second cooldown. They then nerfed mercy a ton to compensate for the top 1%'s outrage. We see this time and time again. They just promote toxicity and then they push their toxicity on to their viewers, making people hate sombra and doomfist, the two heroes who counter goats (hmmmm…).

Now im not saying all pro streamers and players are bad, and its the ones who scream the loudest are the ones that are heard, but it can’t be ignored.

Edit: Wow lot of people replied to this. Just keep it civil and respect other people’s opinion

You literally just described the forums…

I would venture a guess that the vast majority of players arent even remotely affected by your topic. Like 90%+.

For example I play with a couple people that have never and will never visit the forums or check patch notes. Have never seen a streamer. Hell I’ve never seen or listened to a streamer outside owl. When things change they take it in stride. They still enjoy the game and we play together frequently.

So your not wrong, but it’s just…ignorance is quite often bliss.

It might be visible “bad practice” to a hyper minority but in the end it really doesn’t matter.

it wasn’t just the “1%” that wanted mass rez removed. a lot of us did, like a whole lot of us did.

Prior to Seagull stating his opinion, the general consensus of the forums was that Mercy was the weakest support and needed tweaks. Yes, complainers always existed, but they were a far fewer minority.

Seagull’s complaints sparked the entire forums to do a massive 180.

Yeah…it totally wasn’t people mass reporting him just because he was a streamer. If he messes up for a couple of words, he is instantaneously banned, but if someone queue snipes him and throws games to purposely tilt him for MONTHS on end, the only time they get banned is if he makes a big deal of it.

Or…ya know…because she was a must pick with the valk res’s? Even die hard mercy mains admit she was ridiculously OP then.

“pro players” lol …

The only person responsible for how he behaves is himself. Any person that can successfully troll him into acting in an unprofessional manner has done exactly what they set out for.

The more of a public figure you are and the more of a platform you have, the thicker a skin you need to have. That is just unfortunately how it works.

…So throwing is ok as long as it is on a pro’s stream? Good to know.

His entire channel is based around knee jerk reactions and over acting. If someone says ‘You are a bronze winston LUL’ he is going to respond with a rapid fire response like ‘Shut the **** up you are probably a boosted silver player’. It’s not that he has a thin skin it’s that people watch him because he is unpredictable, which can get him in trouble.

Yeah he was the main reason they reworked Mercy.

I can describe it with the most popular Youtubers in my country. The louder you shout curse words and in the most creative way, the more popular you will be.

The devs literally said they balance the game for everyone.

The Doomfist nerfs show that.

Nothing in my post said this.

That’s his choice. And it’s a choice that walks a fine line between being funny to its viewers and obnoxious to anyone else.

So then we’re left two choices: either his actions are the result of people deliberately trying to tilt him, in which my previous point applies because they clearly succeeded as a result of his thin skin.

The other possibility is that this is “acting”, as you said, in which case he’s making a conscious choice. In that case, then whether or not other people are trying to tilt or troll him doesn’t make a difference, because he’s totally in control and CHOSE his reactions.

Either way, he is responsible for his actions.

no actually people praying to streamers and pros are.

they try to replicate and force anyone else to follow without knowing how or why.

it’s not the pros it’s the wannabes

well not exactly, it panders to heroes being used the most effective way

if you would balance widowmaker around gold players hitting shots you could throw everything above diamond into the garbage because of her.

You kinda did. You said that anyone who can tilt him deserves their reward. You condemn him for being tilted, but the person who tilts him gets nothing.

I did not. That is again not what I said at all. Not even “kinda”.

They should both be punished, of course.

As a general rule of debate and discussion, just because the conversation is focused on one subject does not mean all other topics are ignored.

A discussion on how to cure cancer does not mean or imply that no one wants to cure AIDS.

Then what did you mean by “those who tilt him have done what they set out for”.

Fair enough.

The people who want to tilt him got what they wanted by tilting him. This should be self-evident.

This is not implying that what they did is excusable. They should be punished, but no punishment will undo the fact that they did exactly what they wanted.

any citation. Cause a whole lot of us didn’t care and a whole lot of us wanted it. A whole lot of us.
