Strange CPU/GPU usage/temp values

Recently I downloaded MSI afterburner on my Acer Nitro 5 Pre-built Laptop to measure my CPU/GPU usage, and found some strange results.

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050
Usage: 85-100%
Temp: 60-65 degrees Celsius

CPU: Intel Core I5-8300H 2.3 GHz
Usage: 20-30%
Temp: 82-95 degrees Celsius
(Side note: Intel says the card’s max temp is 100 degrees. So it’s high, but not quite over the limit yet).

My takeaway from this is I’m being bottle necked by my GPU, but the confusing part is my CPU. Why is the temperature so high, especially with such low usage? I keep hearing OW is a more CPU intensive game, so if anything I expected the CPU to be the bottle neck. Could anyone else tell me their temps/usage for reference, or give insight as to if I should be worried about this?

When your temperature is getting that close to the max temp, it will throttle itself to prevent damage. I would explore better cooling options, which will likely resolve your issue.

This is a game issue, not a system issue. Two patches ago this was prevalent, then the latch before this, temps were nominal… Now with the latest November patch, system (GPU and CPU) temps are through the roof again.

Clearly a coding issue forcing these processors to work more than needed.
