Strafe jump hero

I have been playing quake champions the past few days and now I really want a hero that can strafe jump. What do you think? Any ideas about what kind of a skill set would suit such a hero and what role he should be?

I’ve been playing too since they gave it for free. Strafe jumping hero would be awesome! We could really use a hero that rewards advanced movement mechanical skills, other than jumping and using abilities. Great idea!

They should just let Zarya strafe jump. She already has RL and LG.

Someone who pilots a light mech suit (unlike D.vas) with boosters like Skye here would be perfect

I don’t see why not😂

Let’s do it

I’d love another mecha pilot. Her backstory could be connected to d.va perhaps.

I remember when they announced OW Jeff mentioned how much the team enjoyed playing arena shooters back in the day and they were one of the inspirations for OW. The high mobility and fast paced gameplay did find it’s way in a sense into OW. Them having played Quake 2/3 is not so far fetched.

They designed Soldier76 for fans of traditional military shooters in mind so adding strafe jumping, bunnyhopping hero for fans of classic arena shooters is not out of the question. Although some things have to be taken into consideration.
-He/She should have low HP to compensate for the high mobility
-Due to general lack of jumping platforms in maps, an ability that allows him to reach high ground easy is manadatory to keep the whole vibe
-His weapon should be a classic Doom/Quake/Wolfenstein/Unreal Tournament one that rewards aim, tracking, prediction etc. and doesn’t feel cheap dying to.
Due to the classic Rocket Launcher being taken by Pharah, a Railgun type of weapon is an option.

I really want a tank with a rail gun, to be honest. Probably not high damage unless it’s an off tank, LOL

a smaller strafe-jump DPS though? I think a burst projectile like the tribolt would be really neat.

and i wanted bunny hop. But we don’t always get what we want.

Also imagine if his ultimate was QUAD DAMAGE! with that awesome sound when you shoot.
Would probably be too OP in the hands of a good player though. But a man can dream, right?

God, I would be terrified. It could be balanced, but I think people who haven’t played Quake would be bored by just the damage increase, rip

Dangit vainglory nostalgia now I have to go back to mobile games.

Doesn’t Hanzo already do that?

Could be a tank then. Larger hitbox and lower damage, so the faster movement speed shouldn’t make him too annoying to play against. Also perhaps this hero could have more than 1 gun. A railgun for long range, a medium range prediction gun and a short range tracking gun. Could be tough to balance, but a hero with that much variety could be really fun. The ultimate could even be another special gun! lol

Hanzo’s jump has nothing to do with strafe jumping. Strafe jumping is similar to zig-zag type of movement done using both movement keys(W+A/D), jumping and aim “sway” which leads to rapidly increasing your movement speed beyond the normal strait line (hold W) movement.

Give it to every character. Go.

Seriously though, the fact that movement speed in Overwatch is so much lower and there is no running momentum legit gives me headaches when I come back to play OW from Quake.

Remember Pharah? Yeah, apparently the devs don’t either.

this should just be inbuilt to every hero. If nothing else strafe jumping gives you something to do when running back after a death, it wouldn’t really make anything harder for opponents since (just like in quake) you typically don’t strafe jump when in a fight unless you want to be LGd into oblivion and smack your head into your desk as hard as your champ hits the wall behind you and feeling very dumb.

Funny enough

This was my original buff idea for doomfist
