Blizzard has never officially said they were keeping the Super Jump as a feature. I see this mentioned alot whenever there’s discussions about her Super Jump. The only thing they turned into a feature is the GA Glide bug
Officially, it’s a bug. Plain and simple. Blizzard has so far taken no stance over whenever they’re eventually gonna patch this or if they’re gonna leave this in.
During the OWL they played a pre-recorded segment in which one of the League players explained the bug and how to do it. He showed the timing, what it looks like when successful, what it looks like when you were too early/late.
It is pretty safe to say if Blizzard considered it a bug they didn’t want, that they wouldn’t have let him air that tutorial on the live stream.
Edit: Might as well post it up here for those of you just now joining
Superjump is basically tied to bunnyhopping. Superjump hasn’t really been officially confirmed to be a feature but it’ll prove to be difficult to remove it without touching bunnyhop.
Honestly, over the past few days I went from believing it was a hug to just clever use of physics with the ability thanks to some of the arguments here.
Even though I originally believed it to be a bug and still leave it as a possiblity, I don’t think it should be removed.
You sound like the Genjis defending the edge glitch back in the day. Do you actually think the super jump was an intended mechanic when it first appeared?
It’s not. It’s clever use of how the physics engine works. I also thought it was a bug a few days ago. Compelling arguments were made that made me think it’s not actually a bug.
Unintended initially? Sure. A bug? Not really. It’s all in her glide. The crouch is used to try and position Mercy so she is under the other player, so when she finishes her glide out it shots her up above rather than past the target.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you do the super jump perfectly, doesn’t the hop boost her up much more than sideways? Not counting additional distance gained by just gliding without the bunny hop’s help. That sounds like a bug to me.
"Yes this is part of the problem with the way it was working (as a bug). Since it was removing all of your air resistance, if you got pushed while you were in the air you got knocked way too far etc.
Hopefully we can find a solution that gives similar functionality to what was there without all the side effects of just leaving a bug in the game." - Geoff Goodman
