Stop playing genji

Imagine dictating what people play in QP. Alright they swap off of Genji… and on to Widow and proceed to miss every shot. Aren’t you glad they swapped?

I kinda wanna start playing Genji now, if only just to spite OP

Very poor meta to practice in. Practice isn’t very good if you just die all the time.

I mean he’s literally a throw pick. I get it, it’s quickplay, that’s fine. Choose him at the start. If you’re getting destroyed and we’re getting destroyed by reapers and mei’s and doomfists, I will ask you to switch so we can actually play the game as well.

Sometimes that’s good. But sometimes it isn’t. It’s very debatable if a genji pick is worth it if they can’t do anything but try and farm ult. And then even when they ult, it’s about a 50/50 chance that they get absolutely destroyed by every ability in the game.

I don’t know if I’d say they’re feeding, but they certainly have a veeeery hard time getting value. Buuuuuut if they keep going into mei’s and mccrees and doomfists and dying immediately? Yea that ain’t cool.

I mean honestly yea. The current meta is incredibly easy to play. I’m not going to stop supporting you just because you’re playing genji, but if I feel like you aren’t getting any value I will (usually) politely ask you to switch to help out the team more.

I understand that, but the hero isn’t even viable anymore unless they are playing a comp that isn’t 30%+ meta. I get that it’s quickplay. But I want to practice too. I can’t practice if I’m getting constantly destroyed by reapers and doomfists and mei’s while our genji is over there tickling a roadhog or a moira.

Sure I can. They chose to play him, didn’t they? They know his current state. They know how bad he his. They know they’ll probably being going up against all the sustain in the world and will probably not get more than 5 elims. They know their tanks and healers are going to get destroyed. They know the enemy team will get all 3 points with 7 minutes left in the game.

I generally do not report players for playing certain heroes. I will report them for legitimately feeding, though. I.e. genji dashed into a mei/mccree 5 times straight.

You can do a LOT more on tracer than you can genji. The analogy simply does not fit because of the immense power difference between the two, other than possibly their ults. And there is this thing called “learning other heroes.” Very helpful in a game with 30ish heroes and many counters.

It’s not an opinion. It’s just fact lmao. From my experience, most teams with a genji just lose. Not all the time, I can admit that. But a hell of a lot.

Every support can still do something, whether it’s a discord orb/defensive ult or healing output. I would always defend moira’s when she was a “throwpick” because the healing output was still massive, we just had to be careful of Ana nades. With a genji, it’s not the same. Genji blade is his only redeeming quality, and even that is a 50/50 chance.

I’d be the first to congratulate/praise them.

Tbh I agree somewhat lol. A lot of Sombras have a tough time doing enough damage and getting value out of their hacks. She’s still viable due to her kit’s ability’s though, as well as her ultimate being extremely valuable if (and this part is important) her team is there to follow up on it.

Golds and cards don’t exactly show value. You can get all the damage and assists in the world but if you don’t get the kill you need when you need it, it doesn’t matter.

Crazy that a team game requires multiple members of the team being able to perform, right? Only so much I can do as a tank against reapers, mei’s, etc. Literally almost anything else I’d be completely fine with. Hell, even a torb. Something to actually help us not get stomped.

Imagine having fun not killing anything and getting destroyed by everything. . . so fun. Much wow.

One-tricks are throwers. People who aren’t willing to switch to something that’ll work are throwers. Fight me.

The genji’s are on my team, silly. Generally we stomp when the genji is on the other team. It’s honestly sad to see. Hero is cool, yet he’s so bad. I understand why people insist on playing on him, but I would switch when I realize that I’m not getting any value. I do it for every role I play.

Tell that to all the reaper/doomfist/mei/double shield players I meet in qp.

Sustain-wise yyyyyyyeeea kinda. Moira just nullifies all of genji’s damage while killing him as well. I would say any main healer can nullify his effect. The problem is, can the genji kill the main healer fast enough to get value for his team? Generally the answer is no.

I mean. . . imagine having fun not being able to do anything . . . Honestly yes. It might not be ideal, but simply the threat of widow is better than genji.

Go for it lmao I’m sure you’ll have so much fun not being able to kill anything.

From what I can tell, most people are focusing on my comment about quick play. That’s alright I guess. I get it, quick play is more casual. But it’s quickplay, not throwplay. I would like to not get stomped. Getting stomped is not fun. I would like the games to be at least close. I love Winston. But I don’t have fun when I’m getting destroyed by reapers and mei’s and doomfists. I don’t have fun when I can’t kill anything because they’re playing moira. So I switch. Sometimes I can make him work against those comps. But other times, I do need to switch.

And yes, not all genji’s are completely useless. Some people know how to play him in the current meta in qp where he can actually be decent. But not many. Not many at all.

I said nothing about being a one trick. Sometimes I feel like playing Genji and I do, other times I play other heroes. Genji isn’t even in my top 5 played heroes.
My statement was if you want to demand who I play, you can pay for my copy of the game.

I can demand it but you don’t exactly have to listen to my demands  But depending on what you do/trying to play against I may call you a thrower

As someone who is often on the receiving end of flaming due to hero choice, those flamers rarely if ever stick around to see end of game cards, they instaleave as soon as the game ends, and too often even before that.

Even if they stay, I doubt it would change their opinion or change their future behaviour in a similar situation.

Imagine thinking fun is defined by a K/D ratio. My guy, stats do not matter in someone’s personal enjoyment of a character. Just say you don’t like people having fun with things you don’t like, and go.

That’s why I said it depends on the situation and what the person was flamed for. Of course it doesn’t matter if a Moira that got called out for not healing is on cards for elims.
Some examples for what I’m talking about would be

  • Support doesn’t heal → 25.000 healing done, 50% team damage taken
  • Reaper doesn’t do damage → 25.000 damage done, 45% team damage done
  • Widow can’t hit any of her shots → 75% scoped accuracy, 40 scoped critical hits

And while I get what you mean with it, there is not THE kill you need to get. If it all comes down to one kill from someone in one exact moment that just tells me that there were a couple missed opportunities before that, that might have been that persons fault, but might’ve just as well not been.
I consider it unfair to blame someone for missing one single shot, because there have to be failed attempts before that one, so it isn’t soley that players fault and on that note, mistakes happen.

My view is this.

If they manage to play properly with genji and pop off, then why should i deny them anything?

But if they’re failing and still not swapping, then we got a problem.

You practicing in QP isn’t more important than someone just trying out different heroes for fun.

s76 smiles on you…

Fixed it for you friendo

He’s the same “most balanced hero in the game” he was 4 months ago when the playerbase still fawned over him, but he’s got 6 extra stabby stars now so technically he’s even better. The devs did nothing but add Sigma and the inability to choose more than 2 heroes per role, Genji was untouched lol. The players decided what the meta was, and the meta decided that Genji wasn’t viable anymore. But again, Genji remained untouched until he got buffed lol.

And what if players are trying their hardest? That’s not trolling

This. I literally tell most of the dps soft throwers in qp (yes i call them soft thrower even if they are not supposed to try cuz they are allowed to practice as most of us are allowed to play a game, it’s mutual) that getting stomped is never good practice and ruins other’s games. I switch to tryhard mode immediately when I see I am the problem of the team, even in qp.

This is the basic courtesy towards teammates that actually play for your benefit as well.

sadly it’s been like that for a long time.

well it’s kind of expected to happen to get these kinds of reactions out of a hero counter system, i can guarantee you 100% you will see the exact same kind of posts being made in different games but that has the same design philosophy of unique characters in a team game based on counters.

it is what it is

Yeah! How dare people want to try something new!

Is this secretly buff cheapblade thread?

Jesus calm yourself.

I can play who I want to play, regardless of tier.

especially if its quickplay

Well as a Genji onetrick i have been compelled to play him more and more.

I find him fun to play and that’s my opinion, of course he’s bad in this meta.

But with the right mindset and correct strategies it’s a fairly normal game that isn’t tilted to the non-genji team.

And well on the other hand i don’t play competitive that much anymore it would say that diamond> could have some issues with Genji due to the meta really mattering there.

I mean Symmetra was completely “trash” back in the day yet I still played her because I enjoyed and did well with her? Genji players, just enjoy your hero and don’t switch unless you have to :3

I mean, I won’t play Genji because I haven’t put the tremedious hours required to master him and I would be throwing otherwise. But my Genji “one trick” friend can team wipe with blade, even with the current meta. So I wouldn’t say it’s fair to say “never play genji” and more fair to say “if you aren’t a one trick, you probably shouldn’t”.

Having said that, my friend also plays Reaper when Genji isn’t working (usually when there is a Mei).
