in other words you should play your style of overwatch with full confidence
i took a little break and now that i have returned i realized just how fun the game is when you let yourself make the plays you want to make
before the break i was sort of in this counterproductive headspace where i was too scared to play how i wanted because it felt like i was throwing
but here is the truth: failing normally is a lot worse than failing spectacularly
yes i will be tilted if my supports go on the flank and die without getting value
but you know what?
i had a game where my kiri went full offense and dueled the enemy backline
we won that game
ive been going on crazy flanks, taking weird routes, looking for dumb angles, and it all works as long as ive got the skill to turn what would be throwing into a game winning play
of course if your style of overwatch has a negative win rate then by all means reevaluate and reform it until it works
now what am i really getting at here?
hold w and stop being afraid
dont limit yourself by playing too safe

YES! I always tell people this game is how you make it to be!
as long as you are trying your best, that is all that matters! There is a huge difference in trying out a play to see what can happen vs. blatant throwing. Failed plays are not throwing!
Glad someone else has finally come to the realization like this and is having genuine fun like my friends and I do. I think people tend to take this game just a littttttle too seriously.

God, I dream of North America learning dive again.

I would have a 90% win rate if my team did this, especially in QP. It’s crazy how many people won’t move from chokes until someone gets a pick.

Dive is pretty restrictive, though. It may be exciting to watch, but it is very formulaic and not as skill-expressive as people believe.
A good coordinated dive is one where you invest as little actual mechanical input as possible.
I’ll be crucified for saying it, but it’s true.

Nope. I have no choice but to follow the most popular content creators or else their deluded fanbase will get me.
hell yeah
time to walk backline in a straight line, surely theyll be menaced, right?
right?
If you lose with confident play then you will probably lose with scared play, right? Sometimes you’re actually just feeding though.
They can’t hurt you here! I won’t let them!

This would be generically good advice even in a skill based matchmaking system. In an engagement based system, there is LITERALLY no reason not to play in your own style. That is the ONE thing our matchmaking does well. Accounting for how hard you want to throw.
