i see so many people complaining about losers queue, unbalanced matchmaker, toxicity, etc. i love this game, i really do but its gotten to a point where the people i play with are incredibly terrible at this game and doubly toxic. so ive made the decision to simply stop playing competitive/ranked, and you should too. before i start with my tirade let me just say that if you want to say skill diff or attack me go ahead, you probably need it to feel good about yourself . that being said:
benefits of stopping playing competitive:

the only way activison-blizzard is going to change the way their matchmaker works is if they notice a considerable number of players are dropping out of competitive play. refusing to buy anything in this game is also an option, but a clear message needs to be sent: the state of this matchmaker is not acceptable.

if you care so much about overwatch (which there is nothing wrong with- you love this game and thats okay) you must be getting really upset with the state of comp. by not playing comp you will be clearing your mental state and i guarantee you will feel better about yourself because you wont be stuck grinding trying to get better watching content upon content and video upon video and taking notes only to be matched with people far below your skill level/against people far above it

quickplay is at this point more balanced (at least in my experience- your mileage may vary) and there is nothing wrong with leaving if you find its upsetting you. ive had closer quickplay games at this point and my more memorable games have all been quickplay

last but not least you are directly taking control of this situation. you cannot control who you are matched with unless you join a group or duo. what you CAN do is communicate to activision-blizzard that you are DONE with this and take some agency
so please. spare yourself the frustration. don’t join lobbies you cannot leave when youre faced with smurfs/throwers/smurf stacks/people who have never touched a first-person shooter. do something else.
i dont expect this to gain any traction but we really need to start quitting this games competitive mode IN DROVES. dont just take it sitting down. and more importantly, SPREAD THE WORD. tell your friends to quit. remind them that together you are strong.
who will join me in refusing to play this games competitive mode until they fix the matchmaker?

Mongrel there is 26M people who play OW2 (last month figures from google). I bet not even half of them play comp. Most people play quick play or arcade. Call it a third of them play comp idk.
I bet only like 1% of those who play comp check these forums.
I bet not even 1% of those people who made it this far are going to quit comp because of your call to action

lol. I do agree with you the best form of protest though is to simply take your money elsewhere. I haven’t paid a single dollar to blizzard since buying this game in 2017. I don’t agree with micro transactions or buying in game cosmetics… TBH and this is gonna be a controversial take but IMO that crap should literally be illegal lol. Protect the people from themselves… but w/e its a free country.
The only way I’d ever pay extra money into a game I already paid for is if they wanted to provide live service / features for a monthly sub. Give us an actual team for customer service to review bans / controversial comp matches where some one might be win trading / cheating etc I’d pay monthly for that. F the loot boxes and cosmetic shop…

…why should it be illegal to make products for people to buy? You may not like skins, but others do. There’s nothing wrong with making skins for people to buy.

I did say before I even stated my opinion I know it’s controversial and look man it’s a free country so I’d never actually support a law or something which literally made something like that illegal… I get it dude lol.
I’m just saying of all the terrible wastes of money I can think of purchasing a digital cosmetic only item seems ridiculous and soooo wasteful. If you got the disposable income then I guess what ever you know? It’s your money/everyone elses money. I can get behind paying for a service or a feature or game just not something thats legit exclusively useless lol. TBH another thing I don’t get is in OW you can’t even SEE the stuff you buy lol which makes it even worse in my opinion… It’s a first person game haha.
anyways man it’s just a thought. in any day to day situation I’d never bring this up to anyone’s face or berate them for their choice of how they spend money, it’s just something I personally don’t understand. To each their own though, that’s the beauty of a free country.

Im definitely gonna start doing this too, I was told I’m better than over 90% of the players in silver by the game itself, but I’m stuck with people that can’t get hits or kills as SIGMA.

femboy don’t let your team mates get you down. You’re in silver 3 so your team mates are gonna play like… silver 3’s…
I’ve peaked diamond 1 on DPS and I play in masters lobbies some times and honestly even I have games where I’ll literally have less than 5 elims and like 15+ deaths lol. You’re the only constant factor in all your games so as long as you play better you will climb. If you’re @90% better than your division try to remember there is AT LEAST 8 million people who play ranked in ow2. (Google says 26m total people play OW2 last month… I just figure let’s say 30% of them play ranked)…
Literally just kinda tossing out almost random numbers here but being 94% better than people in your rank probably still leaves 10’s of thousands of people ahead of you in that same rank… even if you go let’s say 5 wins 2 losses… and think you should rank up… do you think the other 10’s of thousands of people you just played those 7 games with didn’t also rank up?
You could end up at 94% again because there are other people ranking up too
anyways GL, I just don’t like seeing people get discouraged.
Stop lying to people and giving them false hope. The “true rank” you reach where you get teammates that are not throwing doesn’t exist. The entire system is swamped with f2p noobs and throwers with no desire to learn the game.

Answer a question for me clearly (can’t seem to get a simple, straight-forward answer for ANYone)… can one progress thru the ranks -Bronze - Silver- etc- JUST playing QuickPlay?

I did, I just uninstalled until changes are made. Games today went destroyed game was over in 10 minutes, close game we lost, push map enemy team got 0 kills, push again our ball left in the first 15 seconds but because he engaged the game didn’t end, next game feeding hog who dies 18x in a 9 minute match. Im over it.
I’m actually seeing these people in my games as well.
They stand in the choke, getting picked off repeated for 4 minutes. And go… Oh this matchmaker is broken… No champ, that’s you playing badly.
Or they play DPS, spend the whole game shooting a double pocketed Ram and then blame the match maker for giving them “bad team mates”… Again, this is a you problem.
