Stop talking about mercy skins, hero genders and balancing, this game consistently having stomp matches needs to be looked at. No other online games I’ve played in my life had stomp games being the main game outcome. Yes a lot of multiplayer games do have stomp games, that’s due to major matchmaker bug, smurfing, or hacks. Overwatch does have cheats and smurfs but they cannot make 95% of the game stomp/stomped.
I see so many players blaming on skill or team comps, yes that is one of the factors that can affect a match but just because your team’s comp is not good doesn’t mean it’s an automatic stomp loss, and if your skill’s the issue, then why are you being matched up with people ABOVE your skill level in the first place? high school soccer team plays a game against national team, kids get demolished, and people say they lost because their skills aren’t good enough, obviously their skill is one that made them lose but also why they shouldn’t even be matched up in the first place! If your main argument to defend the stomp environment of this game is player’s skill and little effects, then there wouldn’t be any reports of matchmaking only giving stomp matches.
Forcing 50% winrates is fine, but not 50% by outcome, by the process, devs really need to understand their fatal mistake and fix it.
Do not think having stomp/stomped games all the time is normal, it is not acceptable at all in other games, it shouldn’t even exist in general, fairness is not supposes to be one sided, games should not be favored by the system. The game is broken and I want this game to be good and fair again, I don’t want to lose my favorite game, start questioning the problems.
You know. I love the post. Best one I’ve seen in a while. That being said, it’s pretty damn bold of you to expect the team to want to strive to do any actual work.
I don’t understand this mindset. They obviously want the game to be the best it can be, but they can’t control how people play the game. The only way to make every match close for the average player would be to redesign every hero to be so homogeneous it doesn’t matter who you pick and replace the core modes with something like deathmatch. Call of Duty and most other PvP games do this, but the games suffer for it even if it makes them more popular.
If we’re going to have a team-dependent game with totally unique tools and gameplay styles, it’s mostly going to be one-sided matches unless people play it right.
They just need to make matchmaking more narrow. They outright refuse to. I normally play pretty well. I’m getting matches where I’ll go 32/7/3 and my teammates will get stomped going 2/3/15. The enemy team ballpark will be 23/11/4. There’s a gap there. Obviously my stats are not going to carry the entire match and it’s unrealistic to expect them to. When you have teammates that are being stomped like that it’s more or less a forced loss no matter how well I play. It’s also very boring when the shoes on the other foot and I steamroll new players. I imagine it’s not very fun for them to have to deal with my antics. Narrow the matchmaking. An extra few minutes of searching isn’t going to hurt people. If anything it will give them time to cool off between matches. Pee break, water grab, ect. If they can relentlessly look for new ways to monetize then they can find time to get off their butts and make some better matchmaking.
they’re not forcing 50% winrate by any means. 50wr is the natural result from a working ranking system.
anyways, the driver for stomps most of times seems to be things like the game design itself, player synergies and all that. they’ve looked into it quite a lot.
The problem is simple … groups shouldn’t be able to play against solo queuers. Most stops are just because it’s a 5-stack against 5 solo players or a duo and 3 solos. That should just never happen in any online game, but seems to be the norm in OW. Hence, all the stomps.
