Stop making Overwatch a MOBA GAME

There are games like LoL or Dota2 much better than Overwatch on this style. The only thing which makes Overwatch great was that it was a mix of MOBA/FPS games, but always conducive to FPS.

Why Overwatch community prefers it like FPS instead of MOBA game? Just look at the last hero picked every team comp, he’s always REINHARDT, a MOBA hero, then look what happens in your average ranks (gold/plat), Brigitte is the most op hero and she has the lowest support pickrate, do you know why? She’s a MOBA hero.

Make this game great again

why cant they make it so support is rotated to lock out once in a while so that people cant play support in some games? could do the same with tanks or dps , would force people to play characters they werent planning on. this isnt the same as “random heroes” either, its filtered picks.

Mercy has always been a top hero same as zarya and Lucio.

I like the moba elements. Otherwise, I’d just play call of duty

Zarya and Lucio aren’t MOBA Heroes

This game is like 5% MOBA at the very most.

These heroes are picked because they not only have barriers (which are oppressive) but also are pretty much unaffected by them.

How? Non aim bubble aoe …boop…

That’s very moba

For starters, I think everyone knew what kind of game Overwatch was going to be from the get-go. Though it’s classified as an FPS, there are many elements and heroes that are clearly not shooters, this was obviously an FPS-MOBA hybrid.

AS for the balance of those heroes, it’s pretty good, some of the most picked and strongest heroes are both MOBA and hitscan, with the likes of Reinhardt and Widowmaker being very good and strong picks in the right hands respectively. If you’re looking for a pure shooter, then I’m afraid this might not be the game for you.

If they were “Moba” heroes, why were they not put into HOTS and Ana, D.Va, Zarya and Lucio did ? (Hanzo and Genji as well I think).

Rein is the most picked hero because THERE IS NO OTHER TANK THAT CAN DO WHAT HE DOES. Nothing to do with the fact that he is a “Moba” hero, you just have no alternative.
Winston and Orisa have very different play styles that can’t work with anything, Rein on the other hand is pretty useful in almost all situations.
As for Brig, she isn’t OP, she’d really trash except for when she’s in a Goat comp hence the Lowest pickrate, but she was played a lot because she was unbalanced at first, and then because people don’t know how to counter her in lower ranks when it’s really easy.

It’s not because they are melee characters that they are “Moba” Characters and that they don’t fit in Ow.
Try to put Rein in Lol or Smite and you’ll see that he just doesn’t fit in. He’d be way too strong.

Overwatch is very different from a moba game : you can switch heroes during the game, you have no object/card/whatever system to change your hero stats during the game, you don’t have lane to push/protect, you don’t have minions to kill etc

So yeah there’s that

Pretty sure Overwatch was originally made with MOBA elements in mind.

Like how you can really play whatever heroes you want, but there are some that work really efficiently with others.

Like tanks and healers keep your DPS alive to do damage, that kind of thing.

If you wanted to play an FPS, there are other games out there. Some of which I’m sure you already have.

No one is asking for making Overwatch a pure FPS, just a FPS with MOBA features, just watch GOATS, this is not the Overwatch many people bought

Both of them are in the Heroes of the Storm moba :joy:

OW having MOBA elements is what made the game great and unique. Without them its just an other basic shooter.

You do know that she wouldn’t be the most picked if she was the most OP, right? You’re contradicting yourself way big time.

And you also realize he’s the most picked Hero in this game, right? Once again, contradicting yourself.

Take your own medicine, there are much better games than Overwatch as FPS, such as Battlefield and Siege. People play this game because it’s different so saying there are games that are better in one aspect is moot.

Then why are they in Heroes of the Storm? Ooooooooh gotem.

This whole “Overwatch is a MOBA FPS” trope has always seemed ridiculous to me. Playable rosters with diverse kits exist in MOBAs, but they don’t define that genre. TF2 had that. Fighting games have that. You fail to define what you mean by MOBA hero. That they have non-shooty abilities like shields and heals? That they primarily support other characters in that way? What does ‘MOBA Hero’ even mean when you say it?

MOBAs are defined by a couple things:

  1. NPC minions that create a pressure wave on objectives and are farmed for currency and experience. These don’t exist in standard Overwatch. Closest thing is the event missions like Junkenstien or Archives.
  2. Scaling power over time, with abilities gated by experience or timers. Overwatch gives you all the tools and scaling off the bat.
  3. Multiple lanes with hostile objectives meant to control the pacing of fights. Towers in most cases. Overwatch has a single objective at a time, which the whole team works together on.
  4. A sprawling map that teams must spread out to control, making each character need to be capable of operating solo or in teams for stretches of time. Overwatch, again, is a single objective per map and running solo is always a bad idea.
  5. Items or other customization tools within a match that allows players of the same character to tweak the scaling and utility of that character for that match only. In LoL it’s items, in HotS it’s choosing between passives and whatnot. Overwatch doesn’t have this.

There is pretty much NONE of the hallmarks of MOBAs in Overwatch, except for a diverse and synergistic roster, which is not unique to MOBAs. COULD Overwatch incorporate some of these elements in the future? Sure. I doubt that it will.

lets replace all heroes with Soldier: 76

The whole counterpick and rock-paper-scrissors gameplay stems from Moba’s if you truly want to get away from them you need to generalize the hero rooster.

Overwatch has never been anything like a Moba.

This… Goes for pretty much every game with unique characters?

This is not a “MOBA thing”. Yes, it happens in MOBAs, but it also happens outside of them. So primarily attributing this to MOBAs is disingenuous.
