Stop it with korean lobbies

Off hours or not
I get consecutive korean lobbies. It’s so laggy I really cannot deal with this anymore.
I die before I even see the widow peek because of the damn high ping I get.
Rigged? maybe.

Let us set matchmaking regions please

It’s in a superposition of rigged, fake, and dead. I get those scam lobbies as well (only time I can play is offhours). They don’t have people of your skill, in your region, with designated engagement/churn index, so they ship you across the world to get farmed by top humans at 200ms.

I’d rather just lose to ai.receipts since his ai beats all of kr b4 lunchtime anyway.

I get them constantly during peak hours as well. It’s not even funny anymore

What type of game are you talking about? Custom games? qp? Comp? Arcade specific?

Quick play and competitive

lmao im masters atm and it does not really feel like masters there. feels more like owl
getting 1 shotted by sojourn with mercy pocket constantly at 200hp is not fun (basically a faster widow)

(i get negative kds in korean lobbies because i pretty much get farmed by widow and soj every single game) (my winrate in there is 0%)

That’s a pretty big issue then. QP lesser so, since you can leave at will. Being stuck in a region outside of your own is so horrible in a comp mode.

Are you using a VPN or proxy, by the way?

No VPNs or proxys.

My take is that the matchmaker can’t find me a match. So they just randomly throw me into another region. Rarely I get thrown into CN (China) servers. Frequently I get KR servers.

speaking of which i just had a match with 2 owl players and they were hard throwing because of the lag. Boring and fake. Stop hosting us across the world, and stop lying about everything. There is fake and there is criminally fake.

That shouldn’t happen unless you yourself set your region in the launcher to either Asia, US or EU.

Could also be a case of being unlucky and ending up with Korean players using a VPN to connect to the US region.

Regions were removed since echo/crossplay patch.

All bnet region setting does atm is use different regions for login servers but ingame it just matches you to the lowest ping group if there are enough players. Else it will go to the next lowest ping group.

Makes a lot of sense now

On consoles yes, but on the PC version, you get connected to the region you specify in the launcher.

No lol, it is this way on pc as well. You can freely switch regions on pc any it doesnt change anything other than login server. If you played during ow2 launch day its literally the method to bypass queue times.

Yeah i noticed they’ve changed how it works after reading Blizzard Support - Selecting a Battle.net Region

It matches you based on your ping, so if you’re playing from the EU, you’ll never be matched against Asian or US players due to the ping difference, and how anyone would want to play on US servers if they live in the EU or in the Asian region, or vice versa, is beyond me. It’d give them a negative gaming experience for sure.

if this happens to you constantly and you get high ping i’d suggest opening a support ticket.
but alternatively you could look into blocking the korean server ip ranges via windows firewall for example, but it is somewhat technically involved.

i did this a year or two ago when OW1 would throw me randomly to middle east servers from europe, resulting in near 200ms ping.

How does one block ip address

someone has done a program for it here: GitHub - foryVERX/Overwatch-Server-Selector: A simple program allows you to select the server you want to play on.
( i havent tried that so i take no responsibility if you try it :^)

But there are posts in reddit somewhere as well if you want to go the full manual route.
