You literally have an experimental mode for this. If I want to play QP, I hate having the option totally removed every time they want to run random crap in it.
This is like once in multiple seasons and only for a few days.
Ya gotta chill thyself
They have already explained their reasons and they make sense. The experimental card was under utilized and did not generate them the right data to make decisions on whether something was fundamentally viable or not.
Doing it in Quick Play means they capture the majority of the player base including those that would not typically look for a dedicated arcade mode for things like this.
It is for literally 1-2 days every season or so they do these, it’s not going to hurt you to give it a shot, you might even have fun.
I just want the backlash to become even greater so that we return to experimental mode with freemium currency as a bribe to participate.
The game has been out for almost 10 years now and they say they need more data? What have they do all this time for bot getting enough data on game? Especially, why force us to go under their data collection but they come out with patch that make majority of player unsatisfy?
They need specific data on specific changes that they’re considering adding to the game. It’s not just broad, generic data like names, ages and genders. 10 years’ worth of generic data will not help them determine if adding a specific mechanic to the game would be useful or balanced.
You have ZERO understanding how this works… Data is not data. Just because they have a lot of data of other types of stages of the game, does not mean they have the data for new stuff.
Meta always changes and so is the game. If they want to implement something in the CURRENT version of the game, they need new data that works with the current version.
DYEM BOI - how dare they gather more ever changing statistics of 40+ heroes, always varying community likes, modes that are old or boring, new fresh ideas to change things.
This is like saying “you have been breathing for 10 years and how you say you need more fresh air?”
IDK why i feel like you think data is just one big block of rice cake and its like a one off thing.
Uhm, just by tallying the forum posts you can say majority of users are happy with the temporary modes here and there.
Data collection isnt a one a while room cleaning - its an always ongoing process, new ideas and new changes will require some testing, planning, data gathering to consolidate its effectiveness.
If Blizzard want data that much first of all “ask for the sample group consent” before collect data, not just force everyone go under their experiment. Before the launch of OW2 they have trial registration before OW1 end. Where did that manner go? Let people who willing to participate for data collection register for it. At least this is what I did during academic research.
Also did you forgot the way many people treat quick play as casual live training mode and just goof around with friend? Many people don’t play it seriously in quick play and this will lead to the in correct data gather result. That is why I said go collect data from consent group of people so they give the most accurate game play behavior as Blizzard want.
I’m pretty sure you just described Experimental card (and the server back in the day).
Funnily enough, they didn’t get enough usable data, so here we are.
To be fair, they did it on early weekdays rather than friday/saturday/sunday, that likely “helped” towards people who essentially work a normal week job instead of ruining the weekends.
It’s also one of the better received QPH as well.
You’ve never read or are aware of those T&C that you agree to when signing up or using a product do you?
Did you realize the existence of global cookie law? Beside, I did not consent about data collecting that did not state for what purpose, did for who, and collect for how long. Without these, from my academic experience it consider as a waste Blizzard just go with a wrong sampling target group as I stated before. It does’t matter how many times they going to collect data because whatever they got is not represent the true value of OW player.
Better yet, run experiments that actually mean something.
The first quicker games experiment was necessary for something like Push.
The second double trouble experiment was just an instant no, no one wants to play against double Pharmercy or double Sombra.
This third passive experiment is all over the place. Some of the passives mean nothing for certain characters and breaks others. Also an instant no.
Do you realize its for websites? and not for video games?
You did not just mention cookie law thats for websites for a software.
Do you even know what “personal” information is being collected?
What you call as “I do not consent” its literally probably just
- Does our audience like these changes or not
- What do they like
- How does this affect the roles
- Which roles and which options in passives were preferred
and so on
Its not your personal details or your webcam.
Stop trying to panic over something that’s
Just basic statistics, you give them those from day 1 anyway when you agreed to the T&C.
All they did was add new variables and see how people like it or dislike it.
Kindly like the seasonal patches.
IDK what is blizzards internal reasoning for these test play changes are, what’s your explanation for these changes? apart from a conclusion backed up by no stats or information.
And how do you know this? like what’s your reasoning to say “It doesn’t matter”.
It probably does - just that its reasoning isnt available to you so you choose to think it doesnt.
Which actually then resulted in later on them reducing the push map times a bit and increasing the push bot speed a bit.
That’s why they are called experiments, they may work they may not.
And its literally few days worth of data, which for a game this big is peanuts in its worth.
The proof is this game update and change many things almost every 3 weeks but hardly satisfy player. I think you see this with your own eyes about how the topic flood with change complain. We play their game doesn’t mean Blizzard can treat us like some kind of lab rat. If your idea is to surrender everything toward Blizzard action you will regret it.
That’s not proof tho.
Like, I’m happy with the changes.
It’s you who doesn’t feel happy with anything at all to the point of complain.
As for the lab rat bit, have you never played any other game like this ever? To know how changes work?
