We did not need to add staircases to make every map ADA accessible because rein players can’t wrap their head around the idea of switching to a tank with vertical mobility on some of the few dive maps in the game!
he needs to get played more for his new skins come on
Ha says the player with the ana icon
ehh rein is already basically a meme pick , sooo stairs will help him live 5 secs longer
As you’ve noted, there are definitely certain characters in this game that Blizzard tends to cater to. Sombra is another one.
“YEAH! ZAT’S RIGHT! I DON’T NEED STAIRS TO CRUSH MY ENEMIES!!! HUZZAH! HONOR AND GLORY!!!”
so everyone needs to play d’va, doomfist, winston or wrecking ball?
On the few dive maps with high ground yes! There’s already a million brawl maps that dive is weaker on, let the few dive focused maps stay based.
This is just a poor take all around.
Having any character be an optimal choice > Having inoptimal choices with only a select few to choose from
Like, I don’t understand why players think limiting the choices to only a select few makes the gameplay more interesting. If you’re seeing the same five characters mirror each other on the same maps every time, that doesn’t make the gameplay unique or interesting; that doesn’t mix things up. It just makes everything one-dimensional and boring.
Very backwards logic if you ask me
You know ana is a ranged healer and does not need to follow the dive up there to support them right? Most intelligent Moira “player” if anything your bum aimbot crutch character is worse on those maps because all she can do is throw a piss orb up there
It isn’t just for Rein, come on now. Anyone without vertical mobility will now be able to take or contest high ground, otherwise your Cassidy or Soldier: 76 would be kilit of the fight for 30 seconds, and that’s sometimes long enough to lose a 4V5.
some people may not be good at those characters. i know im not any good at ball or doom, i can manage a decent winston or d’va sometimes…
Counterpoint: Dorado is a horrifically imbalanced map and needed the changes.
It’s actually pretty even. Excluding map reworks, junkertown, Rialto, r66, Gibraltar, suravasa, eichenwalde, Hollywood, kings row, paraiso, colloseo, new queen street, and runasapi, and various control sub points are all pretty decent maps for dive.
Because that’s the thing isn’t it, maps that heavily incentivize mobility lock out any hero that doesn’t have mobility, but maps that are favorable to heroes that don’t have that much mobility can still see mobility heroes played.
Mobility is powerful so by default they get an advantage regardless of the map. Just because brawl is decent on kings row doesn’t make it a bad dive map. But dorado being so dive favored kills brawl. There’s very few maps in the game where dive is unplayable
I hard disagree. I think the perfect character balance we should be striving for is a map based meta, where certain playstyles are meta based on the map or section, rather then a character based meta where the same 5 characters are played on every single map.
The thing is though, Winston is still much better than rein on dorado. Vertical mobility will still be meta. It’s just… Other things are also playable
Instead of 10/10 matches being Winston maybe it’s 9/10 or 8/10. They will still be meta. Sigma will probably still be meta on circuit, and so will widow. But if you want to play tracer you can make it work. Because people will play what they want to play sometimes
Stairs are cool, but picking Winston or whoever and just being there in half a second will always be better.
This won’t make Rein a better pick, it just means he’ll be able to be part of fights more often.

This is true, but it’s more of a select few maps rather than a map based meta. Basically the extremes only.
I honestly can’t tell if this is satire. Lol
So you want more variety by forcing players to choose from a small set of characters? But if the game wasn’t balanced around maps, players could just do whatever they wanted. Do you not see the irony in this?
Make it make sense.
you are OBSESSED OMG
