Still think Illari should have a blinding effect ult

Either completely blinded with a light effect or give the enemy “spots” so they’re not completely sure where everybody is at for like 3 seconds. Maybe give your team a Twilight effect just for something different. I see the irony of making the map darker for your team but it’s fine.

Also did we ever settle the debate over if she’s ever worth picking over Bap or Kiri? She has some of the best sound design in the game not for practical reasons I just can’t see a reason why I would choose her. Maybe more range than Bap too

She’s not

Yes she is, because she’s fun and I’m good at her.

Yeah, as a Flex Support player, that’s the only reason I see myself picking her. In practical playmaking sense, however, Bap, Kiriko, Ana and Zen are all better choices. I’d say that even Lifeweaver’s kit can do a lot more in skilled hands.

I thinks it’s better they just explode.

There was never a debate. The answer was clearly No.

Illari is mainly pew-pew with a healing pylon for some multi-tasking but not a whole lot of utility. However, both Bap and Kiri can save the team from an ult wipe with lamp and suzu.

Her primary fire sounds like a laser pointer to me tbh very unimpactful

what laser pointer makes a sound?

Wait untill they add a cat character and you’ll see how her laser pointer can be useful

One of Illari’s prototype ults had a blinding effect. They talked about it in a blog.

Dev blog stuff

One of the earliest prototypes we played around with was a blinding ability. After all, this is a hero who gets her power from the Sun!

Solar would throw a grenade-like sun orb, or the spicy basketball in the video below, which would explode and blind enemies within its AOE.

In the end, we moved away from a blind ability because of the somewhat hidden effectiveness and frustration caused when played against. [Illari] didn’t feel a noticeable impact using blind, but the person getting blinded felt too much of an impact. We ultimately decided that a full-screen blind was too much for the type of action flow we’re building in Overwatch.

I’m really glad they came to the conclusion that it’d be really frustrating to fight against because, well, it would be for me. One thing I do not miss from my CS days is the flashbang effect. I really hate it when games screw with vision, whether it’s flashbangs, being overly dark (insert ye olde Doom 3 meme) or having periodic storms that lower drawing distance (like in L4D2).

She’s not, but she’s fun. That’s basically the reason to play her. Personally I’d pick her more if her secondary was more flexible. It’s got a 15m cutoff while Bap and Kiri can heal from further away if needed, with a bit of effort and/or travel time. 15m is fine on various OW1 maps but on some OW2 maps it kinda sucks.

Because that’s what this game needs: more VFX to add to the headache/nausea/migane/epilepsy fest that is OW2

No. Don’t mess with sight. Please.

If you want to DPS on Support but don’t have the aim or resource management for Kiri/Bap.

damage is really valuable right now, and healing is mid.

tossing up a pylon and playing dps is fairly strong
