Everytime you open then close and open the game on steam it has to validate all the files and there is no way to bypass this. This is an issue overwatch 2 has had in the past, it is not fixed by clearing download cache, or re downloading the game. It has happened when a new season was released before and this is the only game it ever happens to and I am aware of others with the same issue.

Having the same problem, seems to be a Steam issue. As if we didn’t have enough reasons Steam was trash already

I’ve done some research into it, and as it turns out this same thing has happened before. The whole validation loop was a thing that happened a while ago and as it’s only reoccuring now, it was obviously fixed. I think the only thing we can do (Unfortunately) is leave it to Blizzard to make a change.
Yep it happened to me a few months ago and now its started again, only ever happens to overwatch.
Same. Reinstalled. Switched drive. Problem remains. Steam content_log doesn’t show a single corrupt file, just says the game is corrupt. Scans, finds no error.
Still not enough for me to actually switch back to the battlenet launcher tho so lol

Is this some bullcaca anticheat measure or something? Forcing a validation every single launch?
Actually I take it back, it opened without validating just now.
Turned off VPN, tho I doubt that’s the reason

Same here. Used to have this issue every now and then before, but now all the sudden its asking to validate the files every time I open the game. Tried different installation drives, deleting download cache in steam, and verifying the integrity of the game files. Nothing has worked for me so far.

Same problem here, started at the same time at 2 different machines. This is probably pretty bad for the SSD so I hope it can be fixed

Still not on their known issue list… god knows what they are doing this happens so often and they break it every time.

The bug is just mildly annoying unless your game crashes during comp game, then you are cooked because even on fastest SSDs validation takes at least couple minutes.
this happened last time when ashe’s mythic had custom vfx that were missing and when reins mythic dropped it was still missing and only when they fixed it did the issue get resolved which makes me think the thing causing this is ana’s mythic has something missing with its vfx
An update was posted in another thread on the same issue, next week there is a fix…
