I’m currently using Starlink as my isp. OW runs great but sometimes, especially during comp games I get disconnected from the game and booted to the main menu, but I can use the internet on everything else on my PC.
Before you start saying its due to blocking the line of sight etc, I know it isn’t due to this as OW is the only game I face this issue. It could be due to the dish changing satellites, but again I only face this problem in OW.
I am currently using a cat-8 cable pluged directly from my router into my PC, so it isn’t due to the Wifi getting disrupted due to walls or something like that.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Sounds like an issue with Starlink, and likely due to whatever way it chooses to route your packets. Routing is going to be different depending on where the servers are located, so so games may work fine while others may have issues.
OW does not care who your ISP is, and is not going to behave any differently. The game is built on top of the OS’s socket layer. It doesn’t communicate directly with your router/etc.
I suspect…just assuming here, so take it with a grain of salt…that you’re still getting pauses/drops in your data when you are on the internet, but things are caching in the background in a way that a game like OW cannot. Have you tried any other online games that depend on a steady link to the game client? Just to see if it’s the game or the connection.
Good luck. You’re an early adopter of that service, so I’d expect it to be a little janky at first.
Exactly the same thing happens to me, logged on tonight and got dc’ed from 2 games and then get suspended when actually was playing and get booted, i queried if starlink, so good to see your post. Did you get a fix?
I have played Overwatch almost since the beginning of ow1. This past month i had to move to rural location where Starlink was the only option for internet. Starlink is great at running other games but unfortunately I have had quite a bad experience playing Overwatch. It especially sucks that I’m no longer able to play competitive but there is a leave penalty in quick play which means I have to probably quit Overwatch completely. If anyone has any suggestions or a fix please let me know.
If it was console, id suggest talki g with your isp to try and get port forwarding & a dmz set up for the console. Im not sure if those would work for pc though.
