Stage 4 of OWL will be the worst

It has the broken version of Brigitte and the reworked Hanzo isn’t in. I doubt that people will be able to watch 2 whole months of that.

But hey, its not dive, it must be better!

Blizz should use their brains why would anyone wanna watch outdated matches for 2 months lmao

They want to give the pros time to learn the patches but it makes no sense for viewers to watch a game that’s completely different from the one they play.

I’m pretty sure OWL’s viewers go crazy over almost anything lol

Pros have another practice called “streaming” of course by now because most of them stream and play comp they must have adapted to new hanzo/Briggite

You know what BUGS me!? This game doesn’t even UPDATE THAT MUCH yet we’re so far behind in our Pro matches!? That’s ridiculous. (I don’t even really CARE but I do at the same time as other games can manage to keep themselves relatively updated.)

They are all ready for this dude, I bet they hate the patch they have to play on as well. Can’t wait for 2 months of nothing but Dragon strike + grav combos to win a fight

Oh man I can’t wait to see a arrow hit a wall to get a free kill! So exciting to watch!
(Sarcasm)

For all we know they will still run dive. I dot like that the old patch will be used either, but we don’t know that the game will change.

With the broken version of Brigitte and no updated Hanzo, I doubt they’ll run dive. Probably only the teams that are very stubborn about dive.

It would feel like watching old tournaments being rerun. It’s not the same game anymore.

I might be in the minority but I am happy that team comps should be pretty different than they have been

I’m surprised they haven’t ended it or taken a break, don’t people get sick of it? I got sick of it after the first week lmao

I didn’t watch any of stage 3 and very little of stage 2 because I got bored of the same meta. So I am super excited to finally see something different. It will get boring eventually but any change is better than dive for yet another stage for me.

I really like dive actually, I like it’s fast-paced fights, and the skillful heroes it requires, I doubt i will enjoy this one, considering it’s the exact opposite, and godly tracer players like SBB and Striker will be completely countered by baguette

I will admit that tracer takes a lot of skill but I personally hate watching her play.

I agree that brig isn’t a high skill hero but zarya is likely going to be in this meta and I think few would claim she isn’t high skill, much higher than either of the dive tanks.

It also appears that this new meta will use snipers a lot, which I think most would agree are very high skilled hero’s as well.

I can understand if you like fast paced fights that this meta will be less interesting for you. I do hate when people try and claim though dive is so much more skillful when this new meta is going to have many high skill hero’s as well.

I liked dive for a stage I just get bored of the same thing over and over.

According to Agilities it’s still up in the air. There is hope that we get the Hanzo rework patch still.

streaming is the reason why xqc got kicked from OWL. As he explained it, it’s not just how he acted and what controversial stuff he did and said on stream, it also his time that didn’t went into practice that affected his performance. Notice how seagull, who’s well respected in OW community and who loves to stream and talk to the chat, now rarely stream after he got into OWL

Also it’s not just about playing the game and practicing aim and mechanics. It’s also level of communication and interaction with the team.

Not only that, but it was a patch that existed for, like, 3 days in competitive.

Even at the peak of dive meta in the OWL, the teams still ran all sorts of diverse team comps across different maps. Consider a map like Nepal, where we saw teams literally run a different team comp at each stage of the map. That could easily be a lot less true if Brigitte is as powerful in the pro scene as she is on the competitive ladder. Then we would end up with endless samey mirror matchups, like lots of people claim the dive meta was.

I think the misunderstanding about dive is that it wasn’t the objectively best strategy. It was the generalist strategy. It was a team composition that you could leverage to a meaningful degree across the most maps, but lost to comps that were uniquely suited to particular maps (like Rein comps on King’s Row).
