I have been Elite for over an hour now, played 3 games. There is not a single other person even close to my rank. Why make an entirely new ranking system, if it doesn’t even work?

The matchmaking in stadium works on MMR.
The new ranks are only cosmetic.

Thats only partially true. I am a diamond support player, but have only been placed with other diamond players even though I am no where near that rank on DPS (the only role I have been playing) Some games I even get put against GM/TOP500 players. It does have its own MMR slightly, but it 100% goes off the base ranked mmr.
Yeah. Would make sense that they’ve taken your ranked MMR to start, then adjust as you play Stadium.
But, you also have to remember Stadium will have a relatively low player base. So that will be a factor too.
