My graphics quality is set to Ultra, which has always worked for the game. Has anyone tried it with a lower setting to get Stadium to move more smoothly? I know Blizzard says they’re going to work on it, but who knows when that will be.
You are not alone.
Stadium is terribly optimized. You could try lowering it to medium to get more juice.
Oof. That was painful to read.
This. How something so stuttery and jank could make it’s way straight into a competitive mode. The telemetry alone is egregious. Game is trying to mine all kinds of play data. The customer is the beta test apparently.
Stadium IS terribly optimized, but the issue that the person in your quote describes is definitely more than just Stadium. That’s unoptimized stadium amplifying and exacerbating some issue that already existed with their computer.
Sounds terribly unfun. I wish them the best in resolving it.
Update: Turning the graphics quality from Ultra to Medium helped, somewhat.
Round One: Stable. No lag. Finally playable.
Round Two: Lag when exiting the armory. Once the game started, the lag went away.
Round Three: Stable. No lag.
Round Four: Lag when exiting the armory, lag when leaving spawn room, and off and on lag throughout the rest of the match. Then we lost, lol.
Something about even numbers?
It’s a start. At least I have a shot at going after the season rewards for Stadium now. I wonder what would happen if I went further down to Low. Kinda don’t want to as I’ve been used to playing on Ultra, but I can always switch back.
On my hardware? I can run faaaaaar more demanding games smoothly with all the ray tracing and whatnot enabled, but here few checkboxes overwhelm the system somehow because “reasons”. In fact, I’d understand if my CPU was locked to 100%, then it makes sense that something can’t get the compute it needs, but the CPU is usually just like 30%, meaning it’s basically idling through entire game.
Also Stadium lags through entire MVP replay, every single time without exception. It’s also horribly stuttering and lagging during Armory phase like it’s overwhelmed by few clicks that people make, but somehow doesn’t really reflects that through system resources usage.
Was talking to star. I showed your post to say. They are players having similar issues. Aaron said in emongg stream that there is being couple of fixes on the way this tue/wed. Hopefully it fixes out issues.
Have you checked network graph (ctrl+shift+n)?. It goes crazy. I see huge white colour spike when their is shuttering going. When there is no shuttering it goes away. I wonder if this a network issue or something.
Unlikely. Look at the actual maps used in those rounds. Brand new and heavily modified maps will have the frame slowdowns. I’m having the same issue and went from the highest settings to customized low-medium and tomorrow I might go all the way back to straight up low, just to see if that will completely alleviate the problem, but I suspect that it won’t.
Isn’t blizzards solution to just cap the mode at 30 fps?
It has to be because I’ve monitored all my system hardware parameters and they didn’t really change during this lagfest. Only thing I didn’t monitor was network parameters because you’d think network issues would reflect as usual lag and bad hit reg, not as whole game lagging graphically while not actually having graphical issues locally.
It didn’t
