Not having cross play is a huge L though too tell the truth. The game isn’t really competitive and there is no reason to split the player base. It should absolutely be cross play it is not based on skill based match making.

We do not need another quick play 2.0 disaster.
In quick play we are stuck with teams with get and hope this genji in his switch with 15 fps can actually get kills.
If they want this to succeed they need to show and prefer addressing to pc players.
Console can do their own thing. But we do not need cross play. This mode is complex.
They should let each platform decide how they play.
You are comparing it to an actual competitive mode is the problem. It isn’t that. It doesn’t have real skill based matchmaking. Your rank is entirely win loss based. There is 0 reason for it to not be cross play.
It just only has one mode so they called it “competitive”, it is in fact not a competitive mode.
Three games, 7 rounds. Outhealed both Supports on every round as Junker Queen. Reaper outhealed both Supports. Genji outhealed both supports.
Still a problem where supports don’t heal their team. Losing games because of them.
