Stadium is not competitive

First, supports have way more power and the game becomes progressively easier for them. Health automatically scales with each round making damage easier to mitigate and heal, but damage does not. Meaning the primary vector for dps heros to scale their value is actively being worked against by the mode itself, meanwhile supports have multiple avenues to scale their value while their job becomes easier. Damage needs to scale at the same rate. I understand the reasoning at first glance but its actually just wildly unfair to one role.

Secondly, the devs stated every hero should have an answer to their counters through builds, but if thats true their should be additional free powers that specificly answer those issues, otherwise the counters are still countering the power of your hero monetarily. If you have to sacrifice a power or item slot to have an answer to a counter, they are still countering your heros value just by existing.

I understand the devs want build crafting to be a form of skill expression, and than very much can be, but hero swapping should be in the mode as well as the full hero roster should be in the mode for there to be any hope of it being a truly COMPETITIVE experience.

I believe that the reason the full roster is not in the game is because some heros cant not be broken with these cut and paste items. Unless each item tab is individualized for every hero, it will be impossible to balance.

Imagine torb, junk, soj, or pharah with extra ammo and attack speed. Imagine tracer with cooldown reduction, movement speed, and armor. Widow with crit damage , armor, and weapon power. Wrecking ball just full hp stacking. Bastion hp stacking.

The solution? Hero bans, full roster, with swapping. Because of the currency elements, no one build can reign supreme. Have a doom thats feeding? thats going to impact your ability to farm large amounts of currency and you wont be able to run the best build, so even soj who might be meta with good items can be outperformed by a reaper with decent items.

The current state will leave a bad taste in a lot of players mouths, but theres so much potential here. Dont let it go to waste.

The full roster isnt there because of 1.) development time. There’s a ton of specialized skill and 2.) learning curve. They’re giving you something manageable. They’re giving you incentives to try everyone out. Same exact reason new players have to unlock heroes by playing. It’s just a proven way to help people catch on.

Other heroes will be added. We know this, you don’t have to ask for it.

Haha They will never see me on over half the heroes in stadium.

also don’t forget to abuse shotgun heroes while armor is broken.

idea of a mini tournament is incredible good, but this? people where in line to play it? yeah not me.
sustainfest of the century.

if I could play normal overwatch comp with 4 round wins declaring the winning team… I would only be playing comp.

I may try it again next year with decent hero options.

I can’t see this being truly competitive when swapping isn’t allowed. This is just a more in depth arcade mode imo. It’s not a knock to the dev team or people who enjoy it - it just doesn’t feel competitive to me with that limitation where you’re bound at champ select.

Bastion never would be good on any new modes like Stadium. Its MAIN problem is GIANT hitbox. Any health increasing never fix it. When Bastion tries play more active without turret form, its health melts very quickly. I know, that having most powerful mode like turret form need some weakness to balance that, but in recon form Bastion need play VERY passive… Self-repair compensates that, it able quickly return at battle but still need play careful, but it’s much more better than that passive gameplay when you play only around your one ability.
So, until the self-repair replaces grenade, Bastion never would be good on any mode without perks

Its not competitive in fact.

But it rewards competitive points so i take it lmao.

Health scales because you can buy weapon power. If damage scaled, then everyone would pop like a balloon the second hitspam 76 looks at them from the 4th round onward.

I dont think youve ever played bastion with 700hp+ extra mitigation armor and extra mitigation shields. Bastion is max value if he can be a second tank and just sit on main spraying down tanks.

Yes, I did. The armored artillery perk, after exiting from artillery Bastion has temporal 300 shileds for 3-5 seconds. So it has 650 hp at moment. But even that doesn’t help it. Bastion functioning like Mauga, but Mauga even with berserk passive sometimes dies quite fast. But Bastion even can’t heal itself most of times. Repair perk usually becomes available when match comes to end. And support would need spend too much resources or time to heal all Bastion 700hp. Cause it will lose so massive hp very often. Giant health more effective for small heroes, like soldier and etc. Bastion need self-heal, cause supports won’t disturbed by him and no longer need baby sit him. Also it allows for Bastion quickly return to the battle cause now it heals itself directly.
So if we talk about stadium, Bastion with 700 hp and repair even wouldn’t be OP machine, cause it loses health quite fast

Funny.

I feel like everything just blows up in Stadium after a few rounds.

Your experience is totally valid, and maybe other individualized tweaks could be made to address that if equal scaling was introduced. Some might wonder if scaling damage at the same rate as health would be the same as leaving both at base. It would not because a larger health pool is still easier to heal, and mitigate, instances of small damage or spam damage.
