Stadium is garbage as support

No matter who I play, no matter how much healing I do, no matter if I’m GM support, no matter how much I tryhard Stadium games as support are absolute trash and I mean it, I have to sit in queue for up to 20 minutes just to get matched with awful players feeding and staggering constantly while also taking awful powers/items and I’m watching them throw my games one after the other, the best is when we’re up 3 rounds to 0 and my team suddenly decides we’re only gonna lose from now on.

Of course when I check the profiles of my teammates they all have a negative winrate and they’re silver to low diamond aka no bueno.

Like what am I supposed to do when my tank is a gold player and the enemy is masters? Nothing, my tank is just gonna get rolled and play horribly.

What an asinine suggestion, I’m not the problem, I shouldn’t be punished because I’m solo queueing, the matchmaking should be better especially if I have to wait 10-20 minutes for a game.

I stopped playing Stadium after a few days. It’s painful.

I enjoy Stadium, but their balancing choices are just… mind-boggling.

Honestly, should any of us truly to expect any amount of solid balance on a game mode backed around so many build combinations, never tested before with prior knowledge by players, etc. Stadium is effectively a trading card game type of balance.

Matchmaking for several weeks will be completely borked and could very well be that way into next season with all of these massive changes going on.

Yeah I played it for like 10-11 games on release and haven’t touched it since. Games are too much of a time commitment, especially if they go all 7 rounds. Or having to endure 4 rounds of being stomped is not fun either lol.

The main problem I’ve had with support in stadium is it’s hard for the healing to keep up with the raw damage numbers some tanks and dps can output. This problem is in the main game too, but it’s way more obvious in stadium where rein can just one shot any squishy with a single firestrike even if I’ve got 3 defensive items, one of which converts 100hp into armour and the other giving me extra armour, and one that gives me shields and take 15% less ability damage while I have shields. If rein or soldier build around ability power they’re SO powerful.

Tbf to them though, it’s almost an entirely new game, things are gonna be horribly balanced for a bit while they gather information. I just really hope they realise tanks and dps need heavy nerfs sooner rather than later XD

Overwatch has always had a healing deficit in relation to available damage. The strongest solo target heals in the game with Ana can only cap out at like 150 hps with bionade + primary fire. Multiple characters can completely eclipse that with primary fire alone.

When players play poorly and are not hitting as many shots as they should be healing can trump damage output, but its highly variable. There is no critical healing output generally in OW available to trump DPS outputs. The goal of every support should always be do healing to keep someone alive, but at the same time contribute to ending a fight with your own offensive tools.

You can get away with massive healing in several comps, but overall raising in ranks on support is maximizing damage and just enough healing to prevent people dying.

You are wrong. Stadium is just the most unbalanced BS garbage mode I’ve ever witnessed in any game ever. And matchmaker for it is even bigger joke. I’m just endlessly on defeated side to a point I see no point in playing this stupid game. Just came from a match where it finally looked like we might have a chance to win and after 2 matches we got stomped to the ground so hard out of the blue it wasn’t even funny. So stupid it’s really hard to write it down in words.

It’s not your team that decided to lose, it’s this stupid mode that just randomly turns into a snowball curb stomping BS that you can’t get past no matter what.

I haven’t mentionned balance.

Yes because for some mysterious reason they decided not to use your prior MMR from other ranked modes so you get people from a wide variety of ranks jammed together which makes for unfun matches more often than not.

Healing with damage works too! Saw a short on YouTube with Moira where an orb basically one shooter everything…

I can agree with healing is hard in stadium. Hope when they ad Zenyatta he doesn’t become an must pick.

That was my tank last game in elite, this guy is supposedly elite too, he had no idea what to do the entire game and flamed me “I don’t mind a good flank lucio, emphasis on good” he said :rofl:

No, it’s garbo as tank. All the bad of role queue, only now you can’t switch. Support is so good. As a tank main all I do there is go Moira, get multiball, ball from spending healing juice, extra opposite ball and just spam left and right with ability power and reduced cooldown. Had a DPS Moira try to diff me once, she got maybe 7 kills and like 4 deaths, I got 17 kills and 0 deaths by just healing.

And just lost another game because of a horrible tank and dps, our rein was semi-afk the entire time, just holding shield up like a bot meanwhile the dps was getting diffed at every opportunity so I decided to start killing the backline as lucio, which I did and got picks consistently but it still wasn’t enough, rein spent more time in our spawn than playing.

So yeah, it’s garbage and support being popular has nothing to do with it, if it wasn’t popular it’d still be garbage.

Yes it’s also garbage as tank but you have way more agency and you can carry games way easier playing something broken like JQ meanwhile as support I just pray my team doesn’t die by making mistakes constantly.

I think the core issue is there being 0 outside influence on the Matchmaker.
They didn’t use QP MMR or Comp SR to start with a base for who should be facing who, and since everyone started at 0 we get some really sucky lopsided matches. They suck harder when you are limited like you are in Stadium. I’ve picked a hero, realized that due to my team or myself that choice isn’t going to work and have had to try my best to optimize the hero into at least functioning. I’m hoping the rapid balance at least helps a tad, more build variety means less “bad” build paths, and also that the system starts getting enough info on regular players to make more fair feeling matches and less “ah the enemy team was all Masters in main Comp, none of us have made it past Diamond”.
