My first round of Stadium was great, but because I won the game punished me by making my next match impossible to win it felt like. Never captured a point. Never won a round. Never got any progress at all. This match making is BEYOND pathetic and the fact that something this so horribly designed is allowed to be in the game speaks volumes. It really does. This game punishes you for winning. If you have fun one match, you probably won’t have fun your next match. You SHOULD NOT be matched against players that are worlds apart in skill level as you just because you won your last match. That is not fair. That is not fun. That is not right. Again, this is beyond pathetically and poorly designed.
People are joining for their first matches and it doesn’t have Stadium data to go off of. And the mode is going to be severely unbalanced - that is the point. You fill in the gaps.
It has nothing to do with being severely unbalanced and EVERYTHING to do with the game considering your last win a reason to match you against players who are beyond your skill level. And don’t feed me this crap of “there is no data to go off of.” The game has years of data to go off of when matching base skill from other modes. Its not like every player in the world is suddenly a different person when they join stadium. You get new abilities, but you still have the same base stats from your previous experience in the game. This match making is terrible. Its always been terrible. They’ve done absolutely nothing to improve it and it ruins the overall experience in this game.
And you are meant to fill in the skill gap as needed.
With the mode just launching hours ago, it’s not going to have proper matchmaking as people get thrown in matches.
Sure, you’ll get higher-skilled teammates/enemies. You’ll also get the opposite, and luck will play a factor in matchmaking until people play enough matches for it to determine “good skill MMR looks like this and lower skill MMR looks like this”.
I don’t know for sure but I would be surprised if those carried over to this mode. This mode is so wildly different that MMR crossing over would not make sense to me.
You don’t need to be a Top500 GM to play God with Cass when you have a free auto-aim after rolling and can reduce Roll’s cooldown to basically happen every other second. Or to give Zarya 100% bubble size + duration and 150% charge.
I genuinely think it’s just, everyone’s flocking to it for the first time. We don’t have a stabilized MMR yet for that mode.
If this was regular comp, I’d 100% agree with you. We saw it with Drives.
Lmao I had a few good matches and then I got put against a team with a top 500 dps and a gm tank…Im plat
Except skill expression doesn’t exist in stadium. Even with my good accuracy I deal no damage because busted mechanics/insane outheal that takes no skill of course or due to uninterabtable rez that nullifies any progress.
It’s a shame that your build and your decisions don’t matter. If you were given a teammate’s potato, you will lose no matter what you do.
I farm like this: if we lose right away, I stop doing anything and just run to die, so that the match ends faster, it can end on the 3rd round. If we win, I try to play.
didnt they say everybody starts off in rookie? currently watching emongg and hes rookie 3 i believe
there really isnt matchmaking if thats the case
Also beginning of season games are NEVER good. Stadium is not the only mode that’s unbalanced rn from the influx of new players and players who only come back for beginning of season games.
It’s like a curse.
I’m currrently 15-1. Matchmaking doesn’t seen to be forcing anything but wins for me.
I think, the mode has a different way of looking at leveling you.
For starters, everyone starts out at the same point when they start playing. Then you rank up as you get wins, and for the first couple of tiers losing doesn’t de-rank you.
Then the higher you go, the losing de-rank gets more and more effective.
Eventually, those that are good will be out of the reach of those are less good and way out of the reach of those that are awful.
You might have a bunch of bad games at first, but they will get better eventually. I have yet to win a game in Stadium, so my rank is still at the bottom. Talk about frustrating.
But eventually at some point I should get some wins. When that happens my rank will go up and maybe my chances will get better once you get away from the entry level.
i thought you wouldn’t lose rank if you lose…
Not in the first two ranks, after that you do
Well that explains why the gold Cassidy players have high diamond/master level aim
Pretty sure Stadium still uses MMR though not sure from where, maybe 5v5 ranked. Because so far, most of my teammates have been Plats when I looked at their profile after the game (even though we were all in Rookie rank).
MMR doesn’t seem to be any different from any Quick Play games. It’s only tracking wins and losses, as usual.
And, as usual. encountering many supports that don’t want to heal. In fact, the success of each team seems pretty much reliant on whether or not the Tanks are durable enough, and the Damage-role heroes are capable of self-healing on their own. Seeing many Supports being outhealed by both the enemy team’s Damage-role and Tank-role heroes.
It’s quite appalling.
Yeeeep. They’re not aiming 100% of the time.
Um, no.
That’s just assuming that they don’t use your MMR from other modes. I don’t know if they do or not, but is he stomping every game? Or is he up against other players that seem of similar skill?
