I have a bit of a conundrum on stadium.
I hate third person like so much. But I really like the concept of stadium otherwise. While you can play in first person you will be at a disadvantage to anyone playing in third person. Should I just reserve myself to being an artificially lower rank so I can play more enjoyably but handicapping myself? Or should I just accept that the game mode isn’t for me or other overwatch/fps players?
Like I physically can’t play a pvp in 3ps it makes me ill.
Play whatever you want to. Be it first-person view or third-person view. It’s your choice. The point of the mode is to have fun.
Yeah true and I want to feel that, but with it only having a competitive mode I dunno. But you are probably right, it doesn’t really matter if I’m with people lower skill because they are 3ps it’s not like I get rewarded for rank.
I guess I just have to play it and if it’s awful and constantly getting destroyed because of the perspective then I’ll stop. No need to worry before hand.
I wouldn’t worry about it too much. The advantage won’t be this big in a game like Overwatch as it would in other games.
I hate 3rd person as well, so I won’t use it either.
Personal preference is important here. If you really hate 3rd person and can’t really handle it, you wouldn’t really help your gameplay anyway.
Third person is pretty much the reason I currently have 0 interest in the mode. The concept and all sounds cool, not sure how much I would like the downtime of building your character between rounds, but I would have given it a try. But with third person, don’t think I care to bother.
I also don’t feel like handicapping myself in a competitive mode by playing in first person. Especially in close range where you can lose track of a person like genji jumping around your head, but not in third person.
Yeah it’s really weird that they decided to go 3ps at all. It’s just not overwatch imo. My big complaint is that and 7 rounds is just way way too long. All I really wanted was junkenstein lab back but they won’t give us that. Blizzard does absolutely hate it’s players don’t they?
Well; I think they wanted a more complex version of junk lab, that can work on more than 1 game mode. Personally I have no issue with the up to 7 rounds and games being like 30-45m. Gives more time to build the characters, just like more rounds in junk lab made it more fun as we got more abilities each round.
I feel you. Just seems like too much time to look at overwatch screen explosions to me is all. Plus the length sort of limits me to legit gaming sessions rather than anytime I feel like it. Plus less games means more sessions that are all wins or all losses which kinda feels bad. I dunno. I really hope they are open to change about the stuff people end up not liking.
Well; to my knowledge there are multiple mins or picking new abilities and such. It’s not like the same is 30-4m straight. But fair enough, some people will like longer matches, some won’t.
I assume they will make changes if it causes issues.
That may be a lot, but thats also the maximum. Not every match will be like this.
It seemed quite long in the showcase.
But this feels like something they could easily change once people get used to the mode more.
Or maybe play so well that you outplay the 3rd person group.
Yeah, That album was good but RHCP did better with BSSM
I feel like you’re overestimating the impact of third person. I imagine it’ll be less of a factor than, say, character choice. If the enemy team’s running Pharah then I’m going to be less concerned that our team’s fielding two DPS in first person and more concerned that they decided to play Sym and Junkrat.
I’ve got reservations about Stadium but I wouldn’t worry about playing it in first person at all. No-one else will. It’s not like they have any way of knowing which camera you’re using.
I would play in 1st person than. Sure you might be of lower rank than you should be, but rank doesn’t mean anything and definitely isn’t worth it to feel ill.
Felt like 1st person gave you better aim while 3rd person gave better visibility. Some characters trying to fire with 3rd person look wonky and you’ll end up missing alot of your shots.
Just play it and use first person, that’s what I’m going to do.
I also can’t stand third person because I feel like I hit way less shots, and it also just doesn’t feel good having your own character partially blocking your vision. For those reasons, I will play better in first person, so it isn’t really a handicap at that point, it’s a preference.
People should do this for everything. Playing in gold as your favorite character will always be better than playing diamond by swapping. Trust me. Your teammates will be useless either way. So what’s the problem?
Just play in 1st person.
Yes. It’s a videogame, the point is to have fun. You should do whatever you find most fun.
Thank you all for your advice, I’ve decided I’m doing to be excited about it! Also on Sundays I can play longer games so I’ll just play it then!
