If we’re going to have a special patch just for Juno, can you PLEASE do something about Soldier.
Autoaim spam on a hitscan character in a mode where you can freely stack attack power and CD reduction is about the dumbest idea I’ve ever seen.
He is by far the easiest way to get value in the mode.
One of the reasons Juno players had to lean into survivability so much is the absolute insanity of hitscan in Stadium.
Maybe make it so he has to hit with his rocket before he gets autoaim. Right now you can just randomly shoot the rocket and get rewarded with guaranteed damage.
And while you’re looking at Soldier, PLEASE look at the cash for the hitscan DPS.
Soldier, Cree, and Ashe rack up a ton of cash because hitscan damage is incredibly consistent. It’s literally point and click.
Cree fan the hammer spam is also a bit much and makes the tanking role miserable. Mei being invincible while she damages and CCs you doesn’t help either.
I’m honestly getting sick of the double standards in Stadium balance.
If Juno is unfun and has to be changed, apply that logic to the DPS role.
It’s not false equivalence. It’s just true. Half the roster in base game incorporated auto aim in their kits. This is something most people should be aware of.
So either restricted to an ult or a destructible object. Or in BoB’s case, both an ult that is also a destructible object.
If you’re being very generous you could also include Illari healing turret and Juno torpedoes.
But the healing turret is more like an AOE effect that can only hit one person at a time, and torpedoes require lock on time, travel time, and can easily be foiled with LOS if you’re playing cover.
Winston’s Tesla cannon is a short range AOE effect despite its animation.
If there are enemies grouped up and Soldier randomly fires into them with his primary, each person is likely to get hit with a few shots. It doesn’t single anyone out.
When he triggers his auto-aim, it will target a specific person and focus fire that person regardless of how they move. They must break LOS or keep taking damage.
All of those you listed, only one is offensive, Discord orb.
In stadium, Zen also gets a Minor form of auto aim for his secondary fire, also unnecessary addition imo.
(You can also build dmg on Discord Orb itself which also is just plain auto-aim lol)
Soldier and Juno are two of the characters in the game that have a simple “aim for me” button as well as being able to super easily build for it. It’s nearly braindead easy to build AP in stadium, and certain characters benefit from it too much, like Ashe, Zen, Juno, Soldier.
The problem is that these heroes are already good without their powers, it’s just Stadium amplifies it too much. I personally say these characters need a nerf in base game as well, but I know they won’t.
No you Can aim with soldiers ult. Like how if you aim for the head it does critical damage. So if three are grouped or you aim to pick one. It’s exactly the same as all other auto aim mechanics.
I dislike autoaim in general as a concept. But if it’s going to be in the game, it needs to have significant limitations.
Soldier in Stadium completely breaks these restrictions. His only real limitation is the rocket CD, which by default is only 6 seconds, and the power lasts 0.5 seconds.
Stack CD reduction and you get to trigger this more often. Stack weapon power and you get even more guaranteed value in that 0.5 seconds.
While 0.5 seconds doesn’t sound like much, Tac Visor itself lasts 6 seconds. This means you’re getting 1/6th of a Tac Visor every 6 seconds or less.
If you look at the uptime of the ult vs. the power, it’s actually quite insane how often he’s not having to aim at all.
But it’s actually worse than that. Because the power helps him to build his ult, he will have even more auto-aim uptime with the power.
Soldier and Juno can delete people with their auto-aim, that’s the real issue. Minor auto-aim abilities are annoying at worst, understandable at best. Discord and Harmony orbs being auto-aim doesn’t negatively affect the gameplay experience.
I’ve always hated Torb turret. With the throwable turret, it should be a limited duration or have its damage cut. It should have its range nerfed no matter what, same with B.O.B.
I’ve watched Soldier outright delete heroes within that window or only need to land one or two follow-up shots to secure the kill, which is trivial.
I have to agree it’s ridiculous how oppressive soldier is just because of that power. In the half second he gets autoaim, he just looks near you and you lose more than half your health despite him being half-across the map
