Split the 5v5 and 6v6 community

Give us the option to queue 6v6 with 2 tanks. A large portion the playerbase hates 5v5. It doesnt work. Bring back the tanks synergy

Do you have sources to back that up? I’d love to see them. /gen

I agree but really it will never happen.

There’s rumors of Blizzard bringing it back, honestly its the most excited I’ve been for OW in a while, 5v5 is awful.

Sources- common sense. Its been debate since OW2 came out. Ppl hate solo tanking. Most off tanks were never reworked to be main tanks. 5v5 has done nothing but force devs to rework beloved heroes for the sake of nonexistent balance.

There will always be a meta tank in 5v5 and it sucks

im sure this will have no negative repurcussions whatsoever…

Given that Open Queue exists, i see no reason for a 6v6 queue to not work.

What 5v5 community?

if there is 6v6, it has to be the main mode otherwise it will be fall into obscurity just like no limits and open queue (both of which can be played with 2 tanks btw)

If it’s ā€œcommon sense,ā€ then there should be links you can provide to back up your claims.

I’m of an opinion that Open Queue modes could be changed to a 6 person team format and Role Queue modes can remain 5v5, as per OP’s request.

I genuinely would like to know where you got those rumors, because outright just axing every last change ow2 made and taking us back to 6v6 would solve so many issues. We’d still be left with an awful game cause OW1 wasnt perfect either, but we’d be MUCH better off there than in this dung heap.

The fact that its confirmed OW2’s PvE was a rushjob pushed out solely to appease a dying community while the dev team was hard at work cancelling PvE tells you all you need to know about the balance state of this game.

Every last changed character was given half baked, poorly thought out, barely tested, and insane changes that had near zero thought put behind them. Ow2 is unapologetically a worse game outright, only masked by the fact that Ow1 cant be played to show them how dead ow2’s pvp would be.

There’s tons of people on forums and comment sections that misses 6v6. Having both the option to play 5v5 and 6v6 wouldn’t be that bad of an idea. I like personally both but prefer 6v6 when playing tanks like Hammond, Dva and Hog.

tbh OW devs did say they want to listen to more of people and add more stuff in the game next year so in my opinon adding a 6v6 acrade mode would be hella fun

tbh they need to bring back the test realm again and test things to see if people lik it like we did back in OW1

all im saying adding a 6v6 mode won’t hurt especially if its arcade

That’s the issue, though.
Many people only come onto the boards & leave posts when there’s a problem - the squeaky wheel & all that. I don’t think the boards are an accurate representation of what people think.

The forum are a minority. The forum also loves clinging to past.

There is no 5v5 or 6v6 community. There is just OW community.

A couple content creators said this once or twice before. I wonder how true it is. Is there a chance the new engine made it so 6v6 can’t be handled?

Custom games are able to play 6v6. It was switched to 5v5 with the removal of one tank in order to decrease queue times, as much fewer players wanted to play tanks compared to the other roles.

However, with this removal of 1 tank, Overwatch loses a lot of complexity and only highlighted and emphasized existing problems in the game. It can be said that both a lot of players like 5v5 and 6v6, however a majority of veteran players prefer 6v6 due to the tank synergy and overall more complexity.

Additionally, Overwatch 2 has done a very poor job at transitioning tanks to a 5v5 setting and overall a poor job in proving itself as a ā€œredefiningā€ sequel. PvE was swept under the rug. Overwatch 1 features were removed and are now being re-added. The Competitive System is a complete joke.

Many veteran players have left Overwatch (see top 500 leaderboards, entry points are now low GM) but that doesn’t mean the casual player base doesn’t enjoy the game. However, with so much lost potential and no sights of redeeming itself, it makes sense that a lot of players have left for greener pastures.

The more that time goes on the more I agree with folks who predicted an ā€œOverwatch Classicā€ - but dont see it happening for a long time, most likely when OW2 is at its lowest point monetisation wise.

the other way around

6v6 IS Overwatch. 5v5 is not fun. Makes me not even want to log in dealing with 5v5 so often times I don’t.
