Split screen POTG

Ana nano boosts Genji there should be a split screen POTG not just one for Genji.

Support and tank is a thankless job because the user interface doesn’t give those players positive feedback for what they do like healing and blocking damage.
Probably why so many of them do DPS levels of damage because that’s the only way you can feel like you’re making a contribution in game.
There’s nothing more impactful than removing an enemy off the field and play of the game is engineered to just reward that it’s too DPS favored.

But you can already see the nano on the genji potg.
Also how is even ana potg going to look like anyway? Pressing a button to give nano, lol?

Doesn’t really matter because the game only shows Genji highlight intro.

Yes, because even though she just pushed a button, the only reason it worked is because she gave it to him.
Showing the support that enabled the plays highlight intro isn’t a big ask.
It just shares the spotlight

I main Ana for years and I had maybe ONE POTG with her, despite getting lots of multikills or great nano situations. Someone always steals it by getting one kill more or it´s just the nano person. It´s very demotivating…

Most of the time PotG is a low skill press Q or someone picking off two stragglers in a row.

Meanwhile in support you can pull off epic lifesaves, debuffs, buffs, rezzes, whatever, and potg goes to Ashe because 2 enemies walked out of the hallway not realizing Bob was just outside.

I don’t even watch potg anymore. I leave instantly and check my own highlight reel later.

Because who did the kills was the genji and NOT ana. Ana just gave assists.

And it wouldn’t have happened if Ana didn’t give him the power to do it.
I see no detriment.

Still only assists given nothing else.

I don’t see why that matters.

Overwatch does not count assists for POTG.

Idk, most of POTGs are just kills. I’ve never saw any POTG that had only assists even in custom games :man_shrugging: .

POTGS are based on how much fire you get in a short period of time with certain conditions having more value (environmental kill > normal kill > ultimate kill). Kills do a lot for that, assists and healing also add onto it. Support plays where they do a lot of supporting (usually attached to a kill or two, mind you) aren’t too uncommon.

They have a point. Not all the time it has to be her nanoing–it can be actual rifle kills from her scope, in which healers like mercy and her have to use actual skill in eliminating their targets because they are sacrificing their healing output to assist in damaging/finishing off targets.

I have encountered many dps/tank a singular-final blow kill over a double kill from a Zenyatta and an Ana as an example. I have even bear witnessed their damage wasn’t even game changing, they just had fortunate timing with no planning or skill behind these plays… just absolute dumb luck. But the tanks and supports use blood toil tears and sweat and it is still not enough to get play… but everyone wants to use the logic ‘well I don’t want to see a mercy just right click and fly from target to target’, yes me neither… but what about a mercy avoiding near death not once, but twice in a span of 5 seconds and getting a kill WHILE rezzing? Nah, no nobody cares for that, but I can argue from my POV about a DPS with dumb luck dealing 5 damage to a target I lowered with my peashooter pistol and getting play instead of me.

Why don’t they just change the algorithm to randomizing the best play of said role every game instead of it being 75% dps 20% tank and 5% support, have it just split 33/33/33

As a mercy main, I feel for you because it is more likely for me to get play but i choose to prioritize my team over a spotlight which ofc hurts my pride since i know i will never get a mercy play at this rate… but never have i EVER seen an ana play since overwatch 2’s launch

Edit: I do recall Ana getting 3 NANO grenade kills in one fell swoop, junkrat with 2 mid kills got POTG instead :upside_down_face:

It would be pretty nice if the devs recognized certain popular combos and make shared highlight intros.

Unless it’s a wicked snipe, I wouldn’t mind the POTG replay to be in third person; I think it would show more of what’s happening.

Sure but will it really be a POTG worth watching?
I agree getting potg with ana and other supports is unreasonable hard but that is simply because POTGs doesn’t work well with this type of game. It is more suitable for more traditional FPS games.

Even with a dual POTG, ppl will still be focusing on the one doing the killing.

But how would that work, you would need some AI bot to pick the best way to show the scene from or some other BS. Otherwise it would just be from looking straight down as high up as you can, and you could then not actually see whats going on. Its shown from the view of the player for a reason, thats what is already stored in the replay algorithm without an actual person taking it into 3rd person.
