I am here today to petition for a hat toggle for the new Spike Spiegel skin for Cassidy. Now hear me out. Obviously there are a lot of people that like and don’t like the skin. I’ve seen people havemultiple arguments for the skin and I’m going to try and tackle the arguments I’ve seen thus far and make a point.
“The hat would make him Cassidy and not Spike Spiegel.”
I see the point being made here but if Cassidy is cosplaying as Spike Spiegel wouldn’t his cosplay be up to him so if Cassidy wanted to be Spike Spiegel with a hat then why not. Cosplay doesn’t have to be completely accurate, people can add their own twists and ideas to a cosplay to make it more unique.
“Spike Spiegel doesn’t wear a hat.”
Yes, Spike Spiegel doesn’t wear a hat for the most part. He also rarely wore his duster so why did we get Cassidy with a duster instead of just the iconic blue suit. I also think the duster should be a toggle but I digress. I don’t want to ask for too much.
I think it would be great if Overwatch Devs gave us a toggle for the hat considering that the asset is already there and everyone would win. People that like the hair could use the hair and people that like the hat could use the hat. I see no need to deny everyone one thing by either keeping the hair or changing it permanently to a hat when we could all get what we want with a simple toggle option for the character.
I appreciate everyone taking the time to read this rant and hope that anyone who agrees with me please reply and share this topic so hopefully the devs can hear us and give the community what they want.
There’s the argument that what makes mythic skins mythic is the customisation. I think that if someone is going to fork out twenty for a skin in a computer game, they should have the option to put a hat on it.
what bugs me the most is that there technically is a hat, since cass has emotes where he interacts with the hat. so whenever a cass with this skin uses a “hat emote” the hat pops in existance and after pops out of existance again.
i can literally imagine the dialogue of 2 skin artists surrounding this.
artist 1: “i will make this skin without a hat, it looks dumb and the anime character also never wears a hat and his spiky hair is his main feature”
artist 2: “but cass has emotes with a hat on, you have to make a hat!”
artist 1: “well whatever, heres your stupid hat. i will still exclude it when cass is not emoting though!”
artist 3: “yoo neat hat, i will include it in the promotional material surrounding the cowboy bebop event!”
