Spawn camping grefing?

I can’t be alone in thinking that people who do this are not only harassing players but also that it kills game flow for the team in general.

The spawn camping from sombra is something I have seen a few times now and if not her it’s a pharah, It’s so bad that teams spend most of the match stuck in spawn point than actually playing the game.

Then there’s the issue of tanks solo targeting/trolling squishes all match and not attacking anyone else, Ivé watched so many streams of Orisas killing widows and tracers and it’s getting beyond a joke how often it seems to happen now.

What is your experience with this and how can it be improved?

And I just noticed I defended Tracer … uuughh So Non-Cannon of me.

Every single role has something to avoid being solo spawn camped. Its either playing a Moira on support or ball on tank or sombra on DPS.

Many players just don’t take it. If you are legit being spawn camped, don’t die 2-3 times before swapping. Swap IMMEDAITELY after first death. There are way too many Mercy players that are 1trick fanatics about not swapping characters when they are literally not playing the game.

Having your team to run back to spawn to help you play exactly into the solo spawers goals. Drag more than one person back. If its just 1v1 at player spawn, eventually you should kill them and get advantage or your team up front will die and comeback anyway. Otherwise, its a 1v1 and 4v4.

When people do these things, I rarely ever see solo spawn camps going on. I can’t even remember the last time I saw it.

when you main a widow and have 175 health you have no real option when spawn camped and even if you do get a lucky shot in your health is usually so low a tiny amount of spam will end you anyway, but I can only speak from my experience, Sombra especially.

I know it’s annoying but that’s just how you play Sombra. Learn Hanzo, Cass, or Tracer and you’ll be a lot harder to spawncamp.

Seems like you’re in a very bad position if Orisa can target and kill you as Widow. Of course, if you’re popping off or people don’t like the hero you play they’ll target you.
Blame your supports for not peeling for you.

Naa Orisa doesnt get me until she legit comes at me face to face and you would be shocked how many go out there way to extend away from the team just to come kill me it’s like aI have come kill branded on my head and everything and it’s mother just wants to have a go, but mostly it’s sombra, the fact is we shouldn’t be at a point someone’s forced to swap at all thats more or less the point I’m trying to make, I get swaps need to happed but when it comes to the spawn area I feel its far too exploitable for certain characters, and since my range was nerfed i cant always get a 1 shot like some like to make out, it’s far harder than it looks with so much movement flashing and shields in game, But folk ignore these factors and just see the 1 shot side of widow, totally avoiding what she needs to work around as a character.

You can main Widow without 1tricking the hero. If things are getting dicey, swap. Don’t be an obstinate player refusing to swap. Many issues in this game are fixed by making tool kit swaps. You don’t have to hard counter Sombra, but you can make your life so much easier on many other heroes to deal with a match-up on a player that is hard focusing you.

Overwatch is really not kind to the 1trick player. The crux around most balancing options in this game are that players have the option to swap tool kits around to deal with various issues.

This is why I don’t have issues with spawn camping because there are options available to the player. The main problem is players not taking them.

I would say the real issue is with the design of Sombra. It s just too dumb.

Well I personally think it defeats the purpose of having a fair game, Camping in general isn’t real skill or gaming it’s just taking advantage of broken logic and balance, You can see why folk struggle to take rank seriously when camping is welcomed, It’s actually quite sad to see Overwatch has turned into this.

“Overwatch has turned into this”
Im sorry what? I played this game on console since beta. Camping the spawn has always been an issue, and the solution has always been for the team losing the fight, to swap to characters that counter those spawn trapping.

There is nothing advantaged out of spawn for the enemy team. You come back with FULL HP and all your cooldowns reverted. You get full control over making swaps or not. The enemy attacker is super far from their team.

They have possibly long cooldowns to have to put up with from having just killed someone beyond 10sec. Along with whatever residual damage you piled up.Sombra is a unique case that can get full hp on a 250hp health pack, but at some point, your team will even rejoin you when someone inevitably dies.

I don’t want to say say get better, but at some point you need to stop making excuses here for playing poorly. Spawn camping is rarely a powerful thing unless its a full team effort to catch enemies in their tiny spawn chokes points to stall point progress. Even then its still disadvantaged because of faster spawns compared to enemy team.

Sombra has very clear weaknesses to abuse. For Support players, you can literally hold alt fire on Moira to prevent hacking. You can fade to clear virus damage. You can self heal through her virus on left click alone. You have orb healing as well to sustain through it. With vertical escape opprotunities as well.

For DPS, you have other self cleansing options or self sustain. You can run through her on Tracer or Sombra.

This game gives you so many options. It all comes back to players not using the tools available to them wisely.

On the rare occasion, you have a smurf in lobby, but to be honest. If I am keeping a smurf that good out of the main fights to spawn camp me and not help their team, I consider that good value to my team hosing them up for a spawn camp. Though that’s my half-glass full thinking.

Orisa targeting tracer all game? How does this even work

You are not reading all of the discussion read more before having a knee jerk reaction, I know it’s been here since forever but OW2 should have learned the lessons from OW1 is my point, Please offer something constructive instead of some random Gotca style comment I read enough of those on the many Widowmaker hate threads -_-

press h
select cassidy
click head or two body shots, throw nade
bm the sombra because that’s what people usually do to me when i fail my spawn camping adventures
this is one of the few times where being a one trick is legitimately throwing when you’re being camped by a hero with a 80/20 matchup in their favor

alternatively
you can select sombra and go do it to someone else

Again with a swap suggestion, thanks for wasting my time -_- That doesn’t solve the problem it just replaces it with a compromise and when a character is reduced to being a novelty she is then better off deleted entirely.

Please god don’t respond with snark I’m so tired of it, I beg.

this is the solution to the problem, some heroes are made to dog on others, unfortunately
your perspective is the issue
just because you don’t accept the valid solution doesn’t make it less valid
either get used to being camped by sombra or learn other heroes

I’m too exhausted if honest lets just agree to disagree, I can only yell into the void for so long before still looking into the void.

No, real skill would be diffing the Sombra at spawn and returning to your team.

If the Sombra player can straight up take you out of the game that’s a win for her team. It’s on you to deal with it. 1v1 there are a ton of options in the DPS category you could swap to, evade or murder Sombra, and then switch back if needed.

Read the comment above I’m past caring.

i’m not agreeing to disagree when you have available options and refuse to take them lol
enjoy being farmed by sombra because your h key is broken

Yeah… cool stuff bro :+1:
