Spawn camp = toxic?

I just had an argument with somebody while watching OWL, casters talked about killing a player on their way to the fight and this person literally said “you can call toxic behaviors by their name it’s spawn camping” And we’re literally fighting from there.

Is that it ? Are we so insecure about the game that some thinks that strategy is toxic because it implies focusing one player ?

We had the same argument about tbag but I could understand since the only strategy about tbag is tilting the opponent, even though I don’t think it’s really serious in OWL.

Spawn camping isn’t toxic.

I’d say it’s usually a dumb play due to how risky it is. But if you’re successfully pulling it off, there’s nothing toxic about it. It’s a strategy that’s working for you in that situation.

I got outplayed on what ?

That was my argument, is EMPing a Zenyatta toxic ? Is playing META toxic ? Is Winning toxic ?

The spawn camp is a high-risk-high-reward strategy. They are wagering your ability to break the camp against the certainty that if you do you will take the objective with ease.

Oh wait were you the one spawn camping? The enemies are NERRRDS

If you are getting spawn camped there is only one person to blame

No I was in an argument with someone bc it happened on OWL

You can blame yourself, you can blame your team for not helping, but you certainly can’t blame your opponent for spawn camping you

At least in ow when someone spawn camps you they’re leaving their team a man down. In older games such as halo you could be spawn camped from.the middle of maps.

In a lot of games it is but in a game where 6v6 engagement are the norm, taking out a player before that fight happens is smart.

It’s something I regularly do on WB after a successful team fight. I pick the weakest link and take him out.

Tracer and Widow’s value also heavily rely on this tactic.

In lower ranks it’s very easy way to get value since people don’t group up or try to group up really far from spawn giving me more then enough of a window to pick a weak link.

You can blame Blizzard for making spawns with so few exits, most of which lead to exactly the same place.

I wouldn’t call it toxic, but it i would
Consider it bad sportmanship. Also gives the spawners the advantage as they are just going to respawn super fast. Only a matter of time before the spawn farming team gets wiped out

Its not toxic, its just a strat with high risk of being flanked to capture the point, if they are spawn camping but got distracted by someone capturing the point, they are ult batteries becuz the team can use that time to stomp them.

It’s not toxic, it’s literally playing to your advantage. You never want the enemy team to be at full fighting force if you can stop it and you don’t want them to setup at the most optimal place again, that’s why people push ahead and claim the good grounds before the defending team can come back.

Existing is so toxic
