So...why IS every game a complete and utter stomp?

It’s a pattern that’s repeated pretty much every match. So why?

Its always been like this, balanced close ended games are rare and happen once every 8-10 matches.

Wow, you get that many balanced games?

Id stick with 1/10…

Two words… Ultimate Economy.

In the chaos that is the live game, controlling a team’s ultimate economy can be a near impossible task if you start to find yourself on the losing side. So many players do think you can just press Q to win but it really does not work like that. A team that stays winning is able to build a better ultimate economy than the losing team because more often than not the losing team often doesn’t work to do enough eco-pushes to build their own.

Ultimates drive the momentum in any given game and unless players really work to focus on their own survivability (staying alive is more important than getting an elimination) it is very difficult to switch the momentum.

Off the top of my tired head.

  • People not countering heroes
  • People playing for kills
  • Game might balanced more for OWL / Competition
  • Influx of DPS players due to the role queue (If you are playing QP classic)

But all of those things should be equally distributed on both teams by the matchmaker, correct? So none of those things should be factors by definition.

2-2-2 was apparently supposed to fix that tho.

Not really.

Matchmaker only takes into account your personal stats. It isn’t sophisticated enough to account for actual human psychology or overall game balance.

I’m sorry, but anyone who legitimately thought that honestly didn’t know what they were talking about.

There’s much more to stomps that basic team composition. Namely, the people actually playing the heroes matter more than what they were playing.

From my experience: the match-making failing.

Back before Blizzard hid that piece of information, I noticed the only close matches were the ones that were solely solo/duo queues, maybe full stack vs full stack but I never participated in those. It broke down immediately when it came to stacks of 3 or more mixing with solo queues.

This is being further exacerbated by the massive wave of smurfs after holiday sales, as the match-making doesnt know how to properly handle them.

This is the reason games with competent match-making completely separate solo queue and arranged teams. Something Blizzard used to realize.

Yeah to a degree, but 2-2-2 never promised to stop one sided stomps, it promised to bring even structure, which is has.

Cus the overwatch team cant balance, you will have people on your team who plays symmetra, torb , junk etc. And those heroes are completly useless compered to other heroes. Its not their fault , they like those heroes. But they will get destroyed by a widow, cree, soldier, hanzo who are on the same skill level. Just cause they are just simply better in every way.
