"Sound plays while in background" doesn't work

I was waiting for in queue and switched to my browser to do something else. I could hear the menu music and sounds but never heard a server found tone nor the pregame sounds. When I switched back to check on it, the game apparently had already loaded and removed me for inactivity.

It’s as though the matches don’t load on the client side if the game isn’t in focus. Again you can hear the main menu music and sounds but when a match is found, it seems to get stuck on the menu until it’s in focus again. The server side of course sees you in a match and inactive.

Hi,
I had the exact same problem as you. I could hear the menu music but my game sound would not play unless I clicked into Overwatch.
I found a solution. I just deleted the settings file (C:\Users\ “your-username”\Documents\Overwatch\Settings) and re-launched Overwatch. Then the sound worked perfectly again. I could hear a match starting while Overwatch was in the background. I hope this helps someone else!
