Soo...why is Echo a damage hero?

We already know what Brig does though. Zero Hour was the chance to show Echo off, not Rein jr.

So she was planned to be support, but her ult made her a dps. New title of thread:

Soo…why did echo’s ult need to be a hero copy?

Why would she be anything else?

Because the dev team liked it and see it as a cool idea. Some heroes are designed around their ults.

Did you look at her abilities? Echo is nothing but damage

At least this person gets it

why does it matter at this point?

Echo is a fitting conclusion to OW 1. No other hero would do that better than her

Seems like only forum hates her for not being a Support, in game I see everyone is happy playing her, even 1 trick support and 1 trick tank players.

I didn’t think she was going to be support. So, not “everyone”.

Just saying - she was still being developed as a support when that cinematic was released.

Yeah - she become a DPS somewhere from when the cinematic dropped to when she was released.

she was made DPS due to her ult which even blizzard knew was OP, an ult thats not only unoriginal but will consistantly 100% always be the best ult in the game, they make her dps when dps already has the largest roster and have 10 -20 min q times on the other roles, then on top of all that after a week on the ptr they suddenly thought she was ready for comp, how they handled Echo was beyond poor, for me Echo was the final mic drop from blizzard letting us all know they’re well and truely clueless and they’ll never have a clue.

Duplicate ultimate is what her whole kit design is anchored around

and so they did not want her as a support to suddenly stop healing and force her team to have 1 healer in a fight if she decides to duplicate a tank or dps

Sooo…she supported Rein???

Because she can ult into 3rd support slot on 222

hence “pretty much” and not “absolutely”

Echo was built around her ult. Her ult only works as a DPS ult. It is pretty much that simple.

Devs where to lazy to think about how to make her a unique support and made her lame innovationless dps, probably because any OWL-dude told them so.

We knew of Echo a long time before we called her Echo, and her overall shape and look perhaps gave the impression of something other than tank or damage. After seeing her and McCree again, I dunno, I had expected something else other than another damage centered hero.

I do enjoy her as she is and she’s fun to play. Perhaps designing damage heroes is simply easier.

Ha I guess my question is why give her that ult and change the whole character dynamic. Why not just plan a new ult for her when making the character? Silly devs.

Again this question? guys get over it, she’s dps.

I know right who needs an ability that can copy any utility that you may need in the dps role (which has by far more utility abilitys and more varied utility) and is larger than both the other two roles combined.

I mean let them make do with a stick and a piece of string rather.
