Sym’s changes are living proof. But at the end of the day, we all learn and grow as people/community/developers by acknowledging our mistakes and moving past them to better ourselves.
Mercy’s rework was clearly not largely successful or else there wouldn’t be a mega thread for criticisms. If a revert isn’t realistic, I’d like to know what compensation Mercy can receive.
As a Mercy player, in comparison to Moira and Lucio, (the other close-ranged healers) I find myself “utilizing cover” more than the other healers, not because I’m shot at more often, but because I have moments where I realize Guardian Angel won’t give me the mobility I need to fly in and out of fights.
It feels pretty bad to be in the middle of a fight and have a team mate need healing that I can’t assist because I know Guardian Angel won’t keep me around like Fade or Wall Ride. Sometimes I find as Mercy that I don’t even need to fly towards the person who needs healing, instead I may need to fly to high ground above them and heal safely from there, but I can’t. So it leaves me with this awkward moment where I’m not really healing, but instead waiting for someone to give me a proper angle on environmental altitude, and if that doesn’t happen, I need to stop healing, and hide while I find my way to that individual through flank routes and empty stairways.
I wish Guardian Angel didn’t require targets. I know it could be balanced with a charge system and tweaked refresh cool downs. As a healer she is already team-based, having an entire weapon dedicated to only other team mates. I don’t see why her ability navigate and participate should be fully dedicated to them as well.
Please give clarification on what you think can be done for Mercy.
