For 10~ games or so i am an utter god. Obviously I am amazing, I just need another 10~ or so games to regain my mojo and become a god again. Totes nothing to do with the match maker. Not one bit.

I play less than I used to by a wide margin, but I keep coming back for the gameplay. I don’t check challenges. I don’t buy battle passes. I grind ranked solo support because I’m addicted to my heroes and the gameplay. I’m at my peak rank. There isn’t really anywhere to go up from here.

Yep. Sometimes I get on this game and it’s the most awful experience because it’s just constant losses. Then I login another day and it’s fun again because the matches are actually winnable. Sure, play like a top500 and you’ll win all your games… Sir this is a quickplay match.

yeah for the players like us who dont really fit in the current ow2 business model and just sorta exist to play the characters we love… we’ve kinda seen everything there has been to seen. Made GM first time ever and now i’m like
“now what”
3000 hours in the game and it just seems like my characters (genji, rein, junk, winston) are all being phased out by the newer shinier better ow2 characters that does everything the ow1 heroes used to do.
now with mauga i dont even know if i can play rein anymore it just seems like i hold shield and stand on corners forever.

Can totally feel this. I also feel like matchmaking IS unfair sometimes.

the other day for example. I get my flex queue in QP for BP prog, I’m put on tank. now on tank in ranked, I’m usually gold/low plat at best. with any role really.

on enemy team one player had Grandmaster tank, all roles diamond, plat dmg/support. Take one guess which one of these roles I had them on against me? Tank. grandmaster tank. it’s so lovely when you just get steamrolled/stomped by severe matchmaking diff right?

Those kind of matches are so soulsucking to play. and next match wasn’t any better. So I closed the game for the day. I feel like OW2 has much more soulsucking matches, than before. I think a lot of the fault of this is the removal of 2 tanks. If you get tank diffed, it can make a massive impact on the entire match. in OW1, at least you had a co-tank that could help make up for it. ofc sometimes you had mismatch with both tanks , but that kind of happen right now anyway with tank + other members on enemy team.

If they don’t want to revert to 2 tanks system which tbh I think would be easier to balance (like make shields weaker if people pick 2 shield tanks if double shield is an issue) , then they 100% need to fix the matchmaking. because the matchmaking IS severely broken too often sometimes. and I mean this even if you win for a change. what fun is it winning really, if YOU were the stomp for a change? matches where it feels like it could have gone to either team, is far more fun, but they feel few and far between.

I wish they would add 6v6 mode, maybe even not in QP but in arcade? i fell like i would play only that cause now if tank got crushed - gg wp

Matchmaking matters in QP because it’s the mode for new players. Not everyone will, or even can due to real life concerns, move to Comp. I can only hope that the devs are toiling away on something behind the scenes to improve matters because as things stand? I think matchmaking concerns are the biggest problem the game faces. Everyone talks about balance this and balance that, but it’s fairly moot in the face of sending toddlers off to fight the SAS.

This! In my experience, most leavers are replaced by better players. Its kinda funny. Sometimes I wonder, if matchmaking is actually designed to work that way.
