It’s actually so bad. Around gold platinum, it’s basically every game has a smurf account. It makes playing ranked the most miserable experience. I just had a game with 3 Smurfs on the opposite team.
What are you exactly supposed to do? Why don’t you get SR refunded if someone is exploiting or cheating.
These accounts actually need to start getting reviewed, and banned. It’s unfair to players who just wanna enjoy the game, but they can’t climb because they are constantly going against master accounts.

There is no smurf issue. More like you are at your peak and if you need to break your peak. You have to face good players.
It is called you hit you belong in your ELO.
Make a post on cheating and hacks .that is where the issue is.
If Smurfing was an issue, i would be in quick play.
Bro look at their profiles. They got like 50 hours playtime, no cosmetics, low endorsement level, and haven’t changed their picture or banner.
There is 100% a smurfing problem in this game

There are smurfs in the game, but I don’t think it’s a particularly major issue.
We have always had smurfs from the very beginning and we still played, and still climbed.
I actually think a high amount of smurfs is more evidence of a poorer gameplay experience than anything else — if the game felt more rewarding at more levels, people would be more inclined to stay on their mains, or at least on alts closer in rank to their mains.
The ecosystem has been out of whack since S9-S12, which is when I started seeing high rank buddies start smurfing more than they ever did before.

I think there technically is a problem. The range in rank is kind of crazy and I wish they would slim it closer to your actual rank than putting that rando in your group thats crazy fing good

ive seen it in quickplay if for some reason their profile isnt hidden (weird… maybe flex). i am sure an account that is hard dominating isnt a BRAND NEW player, i mean its possible but yea its just a player making a fresh account. doesnt mean they are VERY high ranking. could be a high plat or diamond player but going against bronze and silvers they probably are a bit of a problem
i am sure higher ranks do as well as evident by all the HIGH PROFILE masters or GM players doing unranked to GM videos. its popular since money and everybody loves watching it. i guess people like to watch someone bully lower ranks heh…
now i get it sometimes, why be very high rank and sit in queue for maybe a half hour to get a fair game. if you are the best or top dawg you are gonna wait A LONG TIME to find a similar player. in fact the higher rank you go the higher the queue times. i wonder if its the other way around as well? like bottom bronze 5 … does the matchmaker struggle there to find accounts just the same heh?
the middle ground and fastest queues are probably high silver to high gold. usually if you make a new account you will be placed around there. so hey cool you get a game fast
now… in my opinion there should be a time limit delay of like 1 minute total. so no matter what you just get the next best rank matchup
so if there is like say only 5 people online atm and they are bronze 5, silver 1, gold 1, masters 2, GM 1… and the timer hits 1 minute then too bad there is your team

The solution is easy: Don’t be a hardstuck gold that demands fair mm for no reason. If you can’t learn the game from these very smurfs, the game that have been out for 9 years, you are destined to be smurf’s fodder.
If you say you play RANKED, this should be a Path from point A to point B, where A is your current rank and B is GM/top500. And you accept all obstacles on the way, be it smurfs, stupid mates, EBMM, etc and so on. Learning the game hard way usually is the fastest way to imporve. But, considering the forum venting attitude, you just want to play casually, the same way that these very smurfs do it on you on their vacations from their main ranks.
I believe I said that’s it’s not a major issue.
They still exist as it’s very easy to buy pre-levelled accounts. However, those accounts won’t last long, as they will either recalibrate very quickly or get banned before it does much damage.
Bro, don’t even try to bring this up in the forums; most of the people who are typing are smurfers. Also, most of the Overwatch community don’t care anymore, to the point where if something’s a real problem in the game, they’ll say, “Get good, lil’ bro.”
It really baffles me, like, do we really want to play a game that beats us, tells us lies, and then gives us a $30 skin/bundle?

Every game doesn’t have a smurf account. There are 2 characters in the entire game that would even qualify and thats just Genji and Tracer. Anyone else is just playing better than you, and even then the Genji or Tracers that you encounter are probably only getting lucky.
I just had a Stadium match where my team got absolutely rolled. There was a GM Cassidy on the enemy team with 3 brand new accounts teamed up with him and a Mercy to pocket him. 100% sure he’s boosting.
This was at Pro 2.

Umm. Yes there is. Look at their profiles, and they are new accounts. They have no cosmetics, and low hours played. All default stuff. That’s a smurf.
