ive been in bronze since i got the game and i can’t seem to get out of it, i managed to get to 1900 like two seasons ago but now i’m back at 1300. i can’t blame bad teammates. i’m always trying to keep everything positive. but now i can’t even get out of 1300 and my next seasons placements will punch me in the sack again bigtime meaning i have to grind all over just to fall in bronze again the season after.
the thing is that i way playing fine when i was close to gold aswell but now i’m just sh
t
something is holding me back from getting better and I think it’s my mentality
not the “being positive” kind, i actually think i’m mentaly incapable of getting better and i can’t seem to change. it’s like a brickwall you can’t climb over.
is there anything i could do? i’ve already looked at a psychiatrist, even doing aim practice a lot but nothing seemed to really work. i’m slowly sick of just being a bronze forever…

It’s the hump you’re stuck in: the incompetence of Blizzard to devise a good competitive system.

What I always tell people who want to improve is this: Always pick last. Pick whatever your team needs the most. Play everything. Every role and every hero. Understanding how each hero actually plays helps tremendously when playing against them.
Be able to pick any hero to round out your team no matter how bad their hero choices are and do your best. You’ll absolutely improve.

People being unable to rank up is Blizzard’s fault? Interesting.

i will try that when i’ve stopped crying over how bad this season went
thanks for the reply.
Something that has helped me tremendously is practicing my aim with Ana bots. If maybe that’s your problem. There’s too many variables here that could lead into why, you have to analyze your gameplay yourself. Maybe watch some of the pros in OWL play.

Yes.
I’m in high plat, and I face the same thing.
You do everything in your capabilities to win a game and your teammates mar or may not be your ultimate downfall.
Let’s assume they are your downfall, what’s the solution you say? 6 stack of course.
Now let’s say I 6 stack and still end up losing. Most of the time, it’s either from a complete steam roll. The fact is: this competitive system feels as if it is luck based.
In the rare circumstances my 6 stack gets paired with opponents who are in my skill range and give us an extremely close match, we lose to something as petty as their Tracer contesting overtime.
For what?! To lose 30 SR from an extremely close match? I get there can’t be any grey area with winning and losing, but 30 SR from contesting is ludicrous.
Now let’s assume your teammates aren’t the downfall: what is the enemy team experiencing after you solo play? The exact same thing. And even if your team solo playing tries their absolute best and once again loses by a testic*e swab, guess what? Another 30 SR.
Well, you are playing mostly Widow, so it easy to figure out:
You are not hitting enough shots.
Because that’s all Widow does. You either hit shots when it counts, or you might as well be afk.
For any other hero, you might try to record and watch your gameplay. Look for obvious error you make.
Figure out why you died in a certain situation and try to think of a way how you could have done that better.
do you want me to aim like kephrii at this point lmao
I don’t know what to tell you because I solo queued from platinum to GM. Yeah, it took some doing and I lost a lot due to things that were out of my control, but I got better. As many games as you lose due to leavers and things you probably win for the same reasons. You might belong in your rank if you think you’re giving it your all all of the time and still lose consistently.

In order to rank up in this game you have to be able to play well above the tier you are in. In bronze the only thing that will get you out is skill. Pick a hero that you can get good at that also has decent self sustain (Dva, Hog, Zarya, Soldier, Tracer) and practice getting good with them. This will get you up to at least high silver. Once there you have to start paying attention to positioning and staying with your team more often. At this point it is better to start recording your games and look each fight play by play to see what mistakes you made and if you could have made any better decisions.
Then it’s all about tightening up and reducing your mistakes from there and leaning how to outplay specific characters.
This is basically what I did to climb from Bronze up to Mid gold where I am now. I chose Hog to get out as I felt he had both very good sustain but also had the means at that time to also get elims very efficiently. I started winning more games and gradually got myself out.
The point I’m at now I have focused on learning multiple characters but only to get a better understanding of how to play with and against them. I’ve since moved my main over to Dva as I find I perform beat with her.
I started an alt account where I main Mcree as DPS and both accounts are now at the same level so I am now playing consistantly at the level where I am at so my goal is to tighten up my game play so I can climb even higher.
I am a miserable Widow myself, so I do not know what is needed to carry a game as Widow at your level.
But realize that you as a Widow are relying on your team (of silver players) to capitalize on your kills. So that would probably make it at least1-2 kills each fight, consistently? Something around that number.
Otherwise your impact on the game is too little, because you do not provide anything besides that.
something that is helping me get better is recording my gameplay and watching it back. the little things i notice add up and make a noticeable difference in my decision making. i would highly recommend it. recording software is free and you can also upload it online to get constructive criticism from others
There have been plenty of good tips in here; following some of them should help you climb. The biggest thing that is going to help, in almost anything, is just experience. Playing is the best way to get it, but watching videos (of yourself or others) can also help a lot.
I would like to mention that as a team based game, it is quite possible to get stuck in a rank without it being your fault. It is possible that you are actually a good enough Widow to play in Plat, but it is much harder to get to a new rank than stay in one. I would personally recommend trying a different hero to climb, because even a great Widow is still very reliant on her team.
If you really like being a Widow main however, the best thing you can do is find a buddy to play with. It is exponentially easier to win even playing with just one person you know. Either way, hang in there! Improvement will happen over time, if being a lower rank puts you off of playing something you enjoy, practice in QM for a while and then return to Comp to see how much better you have gotten!

You’re missing the point.
My highest SR was 2850-2900. Can’t remember off the top of my head, but I’ll check later. I went on a 10 game winning streak. What happened from there? I lost 6 games in a row and went back to an even lover SR then I started.
If you truly made your way up to GM, you know of humps. Every low tier rank experiences it, and my friend who got to near GM on PC keeps preaching about it on a daily basis.
Gold is probably the worst hump followed by Platinum and Bronze. If you can get passed that, solo playing shouldn’t be an issue aside from overcoming said humps.
