Topic: plat is the most toxic and insanity fueled rank that’s filled with throwers.

I’m writing this post because I had a plat Mercy in my recent game and she refused to pocket my Pharah because, as she says “I’m plat” (I’m not, but she clearly though I was because we were in a plat game) -we won that game, me and the other diamond dps swapped to self sustainable heroes and played our brains out while she afk-ed and threw, MAD cuz we did well without her. And now I’m inspired to say something about plats

about 2 seasons ago I placed gold on both tank and dps and went to climb them to diamond. I got there pretty fast, tank now sitting in D2, but boy was that a NIGHTMARE.

I can’t comprehend why, but in plat people throw the game for no reason. You lose one team-fight and people instantly start arguing and flaming their teammates. And they do this EVEN when you’re winning.

Like imagine playing escort second point attack and you have 2 and a half minutes to push - you lose 2 fights and your tank goes: “GG” followed by insulting someone on their team. Like… Why?

Every plat game was literally morale diff and which team was less toxic. For example, a while ago my dps deranked to diamond 4 or 5 and I got placed into a plat 1 game. THE FIRST SENTENCE before the match even started was one person telling our widow “If you miss your shots I will troll” - like what tf is the point of this?

I myself am no longer plat, but my trauma of once being there still makes me think about it all the time and compulsively search for them via profile inspection, even in my qp games.

I don’t feel like diamond is that big of a skill gap from plat other than - people just argue less, blame each other less and focus more on the match - that’s it

Plats, why are you like this? Why does every game you play need to be a “We either steamroll or I throw and insult you”

To be fair, this is present in all ranks, but I will say that Plat seems like it has more throwers. My theory is that some Plat players believe their rank is high enough to have an ego that thinks they are always right, while also not having a strong enough mentality to play through a losing game and win. Just a theory, though.

yes, it’s not just a plat rank problem, it’s everywhere and in all ranks.

The only difference between ranks is the experience acquired, personalities do not change magically depending on rank, a toxic person at bronze rank will be toxic at plat rank or master rank.

My argument is that plat is the kingdom of “unaware” throwers

I agree.

The platinum rank is the intermediate rank, this is where is concentrated the fear of going down to the metal ranks, and the difficulty of moving up to the elite ranks.

It amplifies harmful behaviors, like throwers.

Thank God I’m diamond and overcame that hill.

Diamond is where you’re proven to be above at leadt the average skill level of players.

Sadly its Plat and Diamond where people start developing their own egos and start tiodeviate from the basics of Overwatch as a team gane.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

No matter your rank the single most important thing when it comes to climbing is having a strong mental.

for reference the most toxic plat players are on reinhardt , mercy and pharah.
on diamond it’s ram , mercy and hanzo.

avoid rein plat like the plaque it’s not worth it.

A plat widow is never gonna be good enough, unless it’s a smurf.

I understand the players who say that they will throw if the guy stays on widow. The only way to win with a guy like that is if MM system has decided that you’re gonna win a lobsided game.

I’m a plat pharah main myself, and I love when the opponents try to pick widow against me. I wreck them every single time.

We won that game, I even nanoed the widow just to piss of my toxic team.

It’s not just overwatch but in almost anygame even rocket league were plat will be the most toxic player base.

The issue with plat is people have gone past the average due to being good at one thing could be aim or game sense or positioning.

So now they think they are good and will see the mistake in others on the thing they are good at while not realising they themselves have to work on other areas.

Also up to gold generally you will have people just playing casually they are not looking to improve and stuff.

Like anyone can reach and maintain gold without putting effort in.

Plat even if you have good aim in other games and place pkat or diamond due to aim you still will have to maintain it and that takes effort.

So it the lowest rank were most people are actually competitive.

So basically you are playing in the largest population of the game were people are trying but also don’t have good grasp of all areas.

Which is why they blame each other and chances of being toxic is high.

I think you can be a baby rage man child and still climb, just don’t waste time typing in chat.

vc fighting is fine as long as it’s not a stack and you get mass reported.

What you need is direction, you can rage all you want as long as you direct the rage to win the fight and kill enemies.

Telling tilted people to have strong mental is like yelling at someone crying to stop crying.

I wrote that post while in queue. When I got into the game, we started on attack and I got a widow on my team. I am currently silenced so I picked Hanzo to voice my disapproval (I’m not that bad at Hanzo though). Our comp ended up being Widow, Hanzo, Sojourn, Moira, Zarya. We absolutely steamrolled the other team. On defense our comp was different, just to get a quick win. Obviously a classic rigged game by the MM. I’m currently plat1.

There is also the stigma in every game the tubers will always make fun of plat, so no one wants to stay there i think it’s the most unsatisfactory rank in all games were you have committed enough to the game and don’t have much to show for it.

Were as diamond is were people who can’t invest more settle down look maybe one day I will be good to get to masters or gm but this is a good place and also it’s were team work starts a bit and after plat hell it will feel like paradise atleast in the beginning :laughing:

What happened in plat will happen a bit again i. High masters too in every game.

It’s basically the unhappy thresholds of the game were the player doesn’t have enough to be satisfied for his investment.

They’d find it far easier if they weren’t tilted. Nobody is going to play anywhere near their potential when they’re upset/angry.

In the moment it’s pointless to tell people to control their mental. It’s a point to improve on over time.

Yeah, it sucks when a weakling snaps and drops nasties in blue chat, only to cause someone else to snap in turn and then they spend all game attacking each other and not the enemy. Still, it’s better than my silver and gold experiences where I was more likely to get leavers/dodgy connections. Fighting in a closely matched game and then bam, someone drops either due to a feeble will or crappy internet is such an insane anticlimax that it can cause me to stop playing Comp altogether for a while.
