I’ve noticed this and I don’t see a lot of people talking about it. In live, if you’ve got your ult and you go to use it but immediately die before you can get it off, your ult is spent, which feels terrible, but in classic, if you go to use your ult and immediately die, you get to keep the ult and try again.
I don’t know who decided to change that, but please put it back the way it was. It was so much better back then.

It doesn’t happen with every ult in classic and it is dependent on the type of the ult as well as the timing of interrupt. I personally think having it spent is one of the few things that is a genuine improvement going into later OW patches. It feels terrible to pull off a counter to an ult (like hitting that Genji who jumps around like crazy if he ults) only for the enemy to have it back, but most of all - it feels inconsistent and it’s hard to say if the enemy lost the ult or partially lost it and how much charge it has after the interrupt.
So I’m of the opinion that it’s better to be gone if it failed.

It’s because you can outplay a shatter only to get shattered anyways. That felt pretty bad for people and that’s so sad for them.
