last season was actually great in terms of the balancing of teams but ive played 20+ matches in the last couple days and only won 4 matches. im not awful by any means but no way should i be getting paired up against an entire team of people who go 30-3 while the highest kill count on my team is 7. im consistently put into matches where i am the best player on the team as a support and the enemy team are just farming us and laughing about it in the chat. just minutes ago i was on a team where a venture got 60 kills while the reinhardt, soldier and zenyatta teabagged with emerald weapons. like is this the experience for quickplay now? only the best players have fun while the average and below just get farmed?
this cant be intentional? this is the worst experience ive had in overwatch since the change to 5v5, whats going on here?

Are you solo queue or group queueing?
Something did happen…
Because of the very harse leaver penalty. People can’t leave matches they don’t like. They just bring in a 5 stack and don’t really have to worry.

My guess is that you were just lucky, OP. In my experience, QP matchmaking is as random now as it was in season nine, as it was in season eight, etc.
I don’t think that’s really had an effect yet. I still see a lot of leavers. In my last game of Clash a couple of days ago, I had five people leave the game.

You can leave at character selection screen with no penalty, from what I have heard.

That’s what I hear, too, but this was throughout the course of the match. And in general, I still see leavers in games, although not usually to the tune of five in a single game.
i have only ever solo queue
my friends left due to toxic matchmaking

If you’re solo, you’re either matched against solo or narrow groups. In this regard, could mean that the narrow group got the upper hand due better coordination.
While kills themselves aren’t indicative of a unbalanced match, can be mostly an indicative of lack of teamwork on your team side.
While the game itself got a bit loose due accepting folks on specific roles have a equally skilled opponent, on the other roles they’re not exactly balanced towards your roles. Meaning you can get:
Gold Support, Plat Tank and Bronze Damage.
They did to reduce the queue times but that also impacted on the overall match balance. As funny it sounds I have more balanced matches on Open than actually RQ.
its all random and i dont see it being different than any other season for “overwatch 2”
i been getting some winstreaks currently but two days ago i was like you i think had a spurt of like 4-22 or something lol the 2 days prior
i just wonder… i think overwatch 1 and 6v6 was a better experience a bit but it was 50/50 there too but the matches seemed more optimized
maybe its just rose colored glasses

No it wasn’t.
Streaks happened before - you obviously caught some good ones. Streaks still happen, you’ve obviously recently caught some bad ones. The stomps were always there though from day 1 of OW2.
Out of my last 20 games I’ve probably won 16 of them, I’d have to double check. But going off your metrics, this would indicate the matchmaking is doing great right? Not really, all but one of those games have been a complete clown show, just clown shows where I could do enough for it to not matter.
like my streaks were on average 4-5 if i caught one and that was consistent for many seasons, i now have consistent 8-12 loss streaks.

There’s a new hero that people are bad at playing with or against, additional balance changes, a new grouping matchmaking system (for comp at least) and so on. You might just be on an unlucky series of streaks or you’re not adapting well to the various changes and don’t realize it yet, despite your stats seeming good.
There are a lot of reasons things can feel off. The only thing I can assure you is that the matchmaking has been an issue in every season and there isn’t a single thing Blizzard can do about it. If MMR more accurately reflected useful or competent teammates, that would help, but how do you begin to adjust that? Overwatch is too dynamic a set of variables, we have no idea what MMR is tracking to determine value, and 5v5 creates more likely stomp games in general.

I think a lot of solo players are moving to comp as they know they wont get stacks and stacks in comp have to wait forever leading to more stacks in qp. This is creating more crazy matches in qp.

hate that qp takes the brunt of the issues around balancing, gimme solo queue qp.

Quick Play has been volatile lately. I don’t know what the change was but it hasn’t been enjoyable tbh. I feel matches are more one sided, not getting well matched teams very often. When I mean one sided I mean, we barely have killed any of their team and the match is over.

Game is only really tracking wins and losses. So if you’ve lost so many games that your win percentage is low, its not too unexpected to still perform better than the rest of your team, but still unable to manage a win.
Still can. The only time the penalty kicks in is the match has already started.
You also have about a… give or take, 30 second window if you’re put into a match before you quit the game.
S10 Matchmaking is atrocious. Quite possibly the worst it’s been ever. Season 9 Matchmaking was great! They shadowchanged something in matchmaking and it’s so noticeable.
I’m Diamond rank, and not trying to brag because I suck, but I rarely would lose more than 3 games in a row ever. In S10 so far I’ve had a few 6+ game loss streaks, which I’ve never experienced before. Match quality of nearly every match feels like trash.
I will say, I’ve noticed that tonight was slightly better, but not much.

QP have been awful since day 1.
In terms of match quality comp has actually felt worse for me than quickplay. I got 5 stomps in a row (my teams had only one speed and it was hold-W and turbo-feed. I’ve never seen trickling so bad in my life). So I went to quickplay and the matches were far closer with less stomping on either side.
I don’t know, I think it’s just match making RNG. You can’t control how well or how poorly people are going to play match to match. The matchmaker can only do it’s best.
this makes sense…im also a solo queue player and my matches are extremely horrible, im not being hyperbolic when i say that 95% of my matches are completely one sided stomps…either in favor of my team or against my team…in 95% of every game I play…it will be like going up against a wall…completely one sided…
Now, I hear some people say they dont have that issue…and that the one sided stomps are very rare…and what you said makes sense…if this game is balanced around grouping…then it would mean that those who solo queue are going to be matched against teams, and therefore are always going to be at a disadvantage…which is why I wish blizz would make a “solo queue” mode, where teams are not allowed.
As it is right now…the gaming experience for solo queue is just horrible. Not going to lie, after having had such a bad experience with OW for the last few years, being this bad, I was on the OW support site the other day, and had a message typed out to blizzard asking them to completely remove my access to overwatch, because I simply wanted to never have the temptation to ever come back, so removing my access to the game would solidify that…
Just before I pressed enter, i thought about it and decided against it…but…the more I play…the more I feel like I just want to completely leave OW behind. Since im solo queue and can only play on the weekends…from what I gather…those are the two WORST things that you can do in OW, especially if you are trying to play ranked, because I hear the games on the weekends are just atrocious and being solo queue is also horrible.
I guess I just need to pull the trigger on that PS5, like Ive been thinking, and get Helldivers2 and put my time in that…because more and more, OW is just too annoying to invest any more time into.
