I have been playing support lately and have gone on the most insane losing streak I’ve ever experienced. Over the last 10 days I have dropped from Plat 4 to Gold 5 and I’ve been playing a ton of games trying to gain that SR back which are all hopeless. I’m now almost facing demotion to silver, a place I haven’t been since season 3 of Overwatch 1.
I am getting unwinnable game after unwinnable game. My dps have inverse k/d and the other team has a 20/1 dps carrying. In my last game I was against a doom who is rank 234 dps and decided to queue as tank in gold 5. These games legit feel harder than my tank (p1) or dps(p3) games. Every game the enemy team has so much pressure on us. I keep saying it will reverse course but its just continues downwards. Did I just get that bad over the last month or something? Is my account broken… this makes no sense to me? I’ve only won 35 games out of my last 100.
It feels like I’m losing my mind so I queued support on my secondary account and was placed plat 4, and am currently calibrating upwards. What is going on? Anyone else experience anything similar?
I also dropped from plat to silver mainly playing Ana. Turned it around by playing Illari, putting turret up then focusing on killing their team and am back to plat. Ana seems particularly bad at the moment due to lack of mobility. Don’t recommend playing healer focused characters as well.
LITERALLY my experience with the game overall as support the last couple of seasons I have been able to get to plat 2 then drop all the way back to gold and climb back etc. But these last 3 seasons I have been stuck at gold 4 and 5 and demoted to silver once. I haven’t been this low since early OW1 where I maintained high plat low diamond. My games have been exactly as you described just absolutely horrible horrible unfair matchup where you can do nothing but watch the match slowly burn down. I’ve tried switching over to more of a dps support and it doesn’t really do much.
I’ll help apply pressure or get ppl low or a kill and somehow my team still manages to lose a 3v5 it’s just frustrating at this point. I wanna be back where I used to be but I cannot catch a break. I’ve tried and tried and yet I have a positive loss rate and negative win rate like idk what this game wants from me. I carry a game as support or do very well, loss, next game same thing loss like I just want equal matches I’m tired of stomps.
What also doesn’t help is the win/loss percentage. You can’t even make progress you win a really good game 21-23% you lose a decent game 20-22% like all this back and forth prevents any kinda progress
silver three and i’m just about at bronze three in less than two weeks.
until today i was on a 15 game losing streak of entirely unwinnable games. today i had some actual games where my team scraped out a close victory, and i had four of those scrappy wins two close losses, and four absolute steamrolls where we were crushed.
I actually bought bronze account to try a week ago, played couple games and had harder games than on diamond account. Same day same hours…
Never played OW since then.
And its not like my teamates were not doing their job so thats why it was hard. That was not the case at all, may enemies were just way better than my enemies in diamond rank.
And i dont get it how Blizzard managed to achieve this.
Haha! I was just checking similar posts to my last one regarding the increase in cheaters the past month or two and I noticed him popping up in those threads like mine asking for the OP to “prove” they are cheating with game codes. As if you would take the time to write a post about a cheating problem without it being a thing. Like what would even the end goal of such a post be if you were talking smack?
It’s funny you mentioned that exact guy because I’m rarely on the forums and just 2 minutes before reading your comment I noticed the pattern of that exact guy. He’s not even a blizzard shill, in this case he was literally just defending cheaters which aren’t really something blizzard would want you to defend
I don’t think that it’s rigged as much as the player base has just completely split in half. You’ll get some on your team who are trying, communicating and flexible with swaps. And then you’ll get equal parts toxic and people who are angry about a video game and make it everyone’s problem or fault. And that’ll always make for very one sided matches, whether it’s in your favor or against it.
Season 11 worst Matchmaker in 10 seasons!!! Its either a one sided win or a one sided loss but nothing close or in-between playing support role. Usually one dps or tank on the enemy team carrying and they win or they are throwing the match and lose. There is no such thing as a fair match based on skill.
Maybe they thought that just resetting everyone would sort everyone into their appropriate skill rank based on the games they play after?
But it definitely has a negative impact on the game experience and has tilted a LOT of people into throwing or not caring about getting a win and just trolling.
Many people have experienced exactly what you are describing, you did something that incorrectly informed the algos that you should be at a lower rank and so it’s literally forcing you down.
This is a guess list of things that can trigger it IMO:
Playing a new hero that you haven’t played before and performing very poorly with it over a few matches. It massively drops your avg performance rating across all heros and the sum result is the algos believe you should be in a lower tier so it forces you there. Example: Let’s say you only play with soldier and AVERAGE a 30 / 10 kill death ratio over several weeks of playing. Then you play hanzo for kicks and have an avg with hanzo of 6/20 k/d ratio which brings your OVERALL k/d ratio to around 36 / 30 which is bad, so it downranks you to a tier with other people who have the same avg k/d ratio.
Playing with a booster, or using a boosting service. They have systems that can tell and it will “mark” your account as boosted and I’m pretty sure the algos treat it differently.
Cheating, I’m pretty sure blizz knows which accounts used cheats and I think they only ban the most obvious ones, the others are treated differently in the algos. I don’t know what they would do to these accounts but would guess it places you in some kind of cheaters quarantine where you’re playing against other cheaters or are ranked against other cheaters, so before you were getting ranked against non-cheaters and now you’re getting ranked against cheaters so your tier plummets. This is only a guess, but based on the way their other garbage works, they treat cheaters with special algos.
Some other bug in the algo that causes accounts to drop like a rock for erroneous reasons.
Whatever you do, don’t believe the forum troll that you are suffering from mental delusions of dunning kruger, or are massively tilted causing you to lose two tiers of rankings, it’s complete nonsense. Getting tilted is a thing, getting tilted and suddenly having awful teammates is not a thing.
Getting tilted and playing worse is an observable fact.
You’ve got 10 humans in the lobby. Sometimes some of them are just going to have a stinker. Doesn’t mean they are bad players, just means they played badly.
Some might say all of your numbered points are that because you have absolutely no evidence for any of it. Of all of them only #4 may have some merit in the face of what we know but that would need more substantiation before claiming this is happening to you, never mind claiming it’s happening to somebody else.
