I’ve been playing Brigitte as much as I could. I like Brigitte and I can see how she can be useful. In my opinion though, she feels like she’s not exceptionally good at something. Let me explain best I can: She’s a support with healing capabilities but I have trouble actually keeping teammates alive because 150hp healed every 4 seconds is pretty easy to out damage. Her passive healing feels underwhelming due to the speed you recover health. Her damage: I’m not saying I wanna be able to kill everything with ease… but it takes 6 shots to kill Mccree, plenty of time for him to shoot me in the face, I might as well run away while my 600hp shield gets ripped to shreds. The shield’s HP actually isn’t a problem. (I do fine with Winston’s of the same HP) My problem with the shield is the shape of it. Those two corners on the bottom of the shield go inward , just barely covering her toes. I’ve seen pulse bombs pass right through and land on Briggite’s ankle. Whip Shot is cool, it’s an anti-hook and does an appropriate amount of damage. To reiterate: Briggite feels good, but that’s it. she doesn’t feel like a strong contender in any specific category.
Again: I’m not just trying to complain, this is genuine feedback and this is how I feel when I play the character. Advice is more than welcome as well as counter points and healthy debate.
Before you say it, I’ll beat you to it: I Just need to get good and learn how to play the game because I’m stupid and unskilled and I’ll never go above plat and blah blah blah.
She is a not a solo/main healer, she shouldn’t be the one keeping tanks alive. That’s Mercy, Moira or maybe even Ana job. She works more like Zenyatta, he also can’t be the main healer in a composition.
the same as moira she just does tickle damage and you can shoot her in the face plenty of times before she kills you. briggite is a secondary healer such as lucio or zen. kind of evens it out now. the shield thing was just for design and should probably be fixed.
I get that, but speaking of zenyatta, I feel like at least with him. my healing isn’t really strong but he’s still a strong option when it comes to damage. I need to edit my post to reiterate what I’m trying to say
I’ve actually had a really hard time figuring out where and in what comps Brigitte fits into. I agree that her damage and healing can feel a bit weak, but I haven’t had a chance to actually play her myself in a team environment (someone else always grabs her first). I’ve tested her abilities and played a bunch of A.I. but I really don’t know where she’s going to fit in the meta.
Yes, but it can be the same with Brigitte. I haven’t played a lot with her, but I think her strong point is her survivability and her Shield Dash/stun ability. To me, at least for now, Brigitte works best as a protector, a semi tank that is able to protect the back lines. Oh look, a wild Tracer appeared and is about to kill Mercy. Brigitte just press E and is able to save Mercy, after that she can shield dash the annoying Tracer and make her run away. I think that is more her play style, it isn’t about doing damage or doing crazy amounts of heal, its more about protecting squishy heroes and people on immediate danger.
Yes, I agree with that. I still can’t see a lot of strategic uses of Brigitte. With Moira her strong point was the healing output and damage potencial, not only that Fade is amazing.
So far I was able to picture using Brigitte to protect Bastion, Ana, Torbjorn, people with a lack of mobility and that usually stay in the same place since she can shield them and heal them if needed. Since they also lack mobility, Brigitte would be a option to keep them alive with the shield dash and the shield itself. Not only that the tanks don’t have to worry about protecting them if the hybrid Brigitte is there. Of course, her lack os mobility is her greatest weak point, so people would need to react to that.
Yeah, from playing her I noticed she shines when it comes to burst healing squishies that are in danger, stunning their attackers, and taking them down. She also works really well on maps with really tight choke points where the enemy bunches up into groups so that she gets the most out of her melee healing ability during team fights.
The way they were making Brigitte out to be, I thought she was going to be like a tank’s support and be on the front lines, which I still think is what they really intended. Thank you for that advice though, I’ll try and keep back a little as Briggite now.
Yeah, a lot of people I’ve noticed try to play her as a front line; which does work with less experienced players, but against people who have been playing for a while, she gets punished easily. I’ve personally ruined her world just counter picking as Winston because once her resources are all blown, he can just zap her to death.
Well, I don’t know anything for sure, I guess she could be used on the front lines, but I don’t see the point for doing that since she lacks mobility. How she would be able to help out a flying Dva and a jumping Winston, she couldn’t keep up with them as fast to protect or to heal. And her E does have a good amount of cool down and its her only way of “burst” healing. I think in a team fight she should be with her team to trigger her passive healing, but otherwise I personally wouldn’t play with her in front of the tanks and dps, I would let the tanks and the dps do their thing while triggering my passive as much as I can from behind them. If need I would shield them, but that’s it. Of course, this is all speculation, only when she comes on the live servers we will know how to optimally use Brigitte.
Of course, man. It’s a new hero so none of us are exactly experts yet. Perhaps in a deathball Briggite could be on the frontlines because everyone is so tightly grouped together anyway.
Her shield breaks really easily under focused fire and all you need is mobility to to be able to do damage to her sides or back. When she goes to the front lines she exposes herself, a support hero should never exposes itself if it lacks mobility. She isn’t Rein, her shield is more for her than the others. It’s a last resource in case the tanks are away and unable to protect someone, it shouldn’t be her primary job shield people on the front lines. At least that’s what I think. Her shift is usually enough to trigger her passive, so I don’t think Brigitte needs to be heavily involve in the fighting happening in the front lines. Let the tanks be tanks.
She does around the same healing as Lucio with the option of a single target burst heal.
Lore wise and gameplay wise she’s going to synergize heavily with Reinhardt and any deathball composition or close quarters composition. She’s also really strong at helping to push through chokes.
Compared to all the other supports(even Moira) she really is hard to take down and her tankiness allows her to brawl close combat in a way that the other supports can’t. I’ve dueled roadhog with her(blocked his hook and shots with shield, stunned him out of take a breather), something that’s not really feasible on other supports.
She is definitely not meant to be a main healer though and teams with excessive range damage are probably going to be her counter. That doesn’t mean she’s weak it means she has a specific niche that she fulfills.
As we get more characters in the game we will be seeing more characters that don’t fulfill every situation as everyone can’t be a jack of all trades. Depending on how many characters Overwatch gets we will probably see metas where the above average ranks switch heroes more depending on the specific situation instead of sitting on one hero for the entire match.
Yeah, I agree. I’m sure with premades she will shine since there is a lot more team fighting involved where her passive healing can do its job; compared to solo queues where people like to kind of spread out and do their own thing. But she shouldn’t just be out front flailing around with no team support. She’s just gonna die lol. In those instances she needs to stick with the squishies and make sure they don’t get facerolled.
Yeah, I think it’s going to depend on the composition. If you have Tracer, Genji, Winston and Dva on your team Brigitte will be always behind and unable to do her job. But if the composition is not that mobility focused she can do more stuff. I think she will be great at defense maps, where the team usually stick together more.
I think her main thing is her ability to peel for the backline.
-Her flail really puts pressure on flankers like genji and tracer
-Her whip shot keeps them away or finishes them off
-her sheild stun allows her to body block damage from them and even stun them if they get too close
-her healing pack keeps the person they are protecting up while also giving them armor which makes them harder to burst
That being said, everyone is still figuring this character out but i kinda see the sentiment of her not having a place in a team.
Like shes in a very weird spot where you wouldnt give up an off support spot like zen or lucio for her
but you also wouldnt give up an off tank spot like hog or dva for her
She is likely still subject to change and again its day 2 here but personally first impressions i feel like she doesnt fit which is often a problem a lot of hybrid heroes tend to have in this game
From playing her I think staying in the backline is really the wrong option for her. For her to heal outside of her single target heal she needs to be doing damage which means should must be right behind the tanks or at the very least in range to hit someone with her flail. Yes she can peel for the backline but her entire kit is centered around her not being a backline support.
She needs to be with her master Reinhardt swinging away at the front lines, stunning and providing AOE heals and using her cooldown heal on any beefy target that drops low. Her kit is more about disrupting the frontlines and protecting herself than peeling for the backline.
Moira probably does a better job of alternating between frontline healing and scaring off flankers. Brigitte can peel for the healers if they are close to her in the deathball.
