Someone Justify why Ana is better than Baptiste in this Meta

To me it seems like Baptiste would cope better with the shields than Ana–or at least a near-equivalent amount… Yet she doubles his pickrate in GM. I’m very upfront on my opinion as to why this is. I want to know yours.

heal debuff and buff being so unique, and sleep which is huge, and her ult that can swing an ult fight make it hard to decide picking someone else, imo

(IN A PERFECT WORLD WHERE MOIRA DOESN’T EXIST) Baptiste is a good character for running bunker comps, Ana can do his job better and across a wider variety of comps, Baptiste players and One tricks can play him well in GM enough to make him pretty viable in every comp. Sometimes looking at pick-rates and stats isn’t enough.

So is it possible Ana is in fact Too Dang Strong

i’d just say uncontested

nobody can offer something as good as these, because of how unique they are

with 222, they shouldn’t have to worry about splashing out too much anti heals or healing buffs, because you can’t have 3/3 again or even 2/4 with how powerful it would be with 3 heroes all doing it being supported by another support

she’s pretty much balanced, she just needs competition in what she does

but yea, maybe anti heal on its own is “too strong”, that part i might not be able to disagree with

Not in your ladder games, no.

Oh come on…
Stop attacking all these off meta heroes.
Both are out of the meta. Just because she’s played more than Baptiste doesn’t mean that she’s overpowered.

anti-nade. It’s always been absurdly strong.

This is essentially the crux of my problem with Ana. It does 60 damage–that puts your average non-tank to 140 HP, which is less than Tracer (a notoriously squishy hero whose evasion revolves around this) at her max. On top of that, anti-heal forces them to be at max that amount for 4 seconds. On a more immobile DPS that doesn’t really seem fair to me

something something muh rank even though Ana’s instalocked pretty much every dang game I queue support

Because Ana shots are easier to land on squishies than Bap’s healing nades, esp ones far away

No. I don’t think so. I think Baptiste is just a very situational character compared to Ana. Think of it as comparing a Steak knife to a Swiss army one. Sure one is really damn good at cutting steaks like Baptiste in bunker comps. But one has a tool for every job.

Girl, Ana was the most picked hero for about a year prior to Sigma’s release and still somehow manages to be the second most picked hero this month across all ranks. Off-meta doesn’t mean they’re not too strong; it means for once the meta was too stacked to specifically shut them down.

However, this is one of the strictest metas we’ve had, and every other player strongly supports Baptiste hitting his nades. You should have at least 80% accuracy on Bap in general

Yeah, and that was during another format. We’re playing in 2/2/2 now.
As for being the second most picked this month, you’re not pointing out her awful winrate. Which is indicating that she’s being played a lot more than she should be.

Her winrates have always curved upwards as the rank gets higher. Even when she was the most picked hero.

He is probably better overall, but Ana’s cooler.

Please don’t ever slander my mans again

(Obligatory “I am not a Baptiste main and that’s not why I made this thread btw”.

Actually can’t even talk bc I’d be a Baptiste main if I could get away with playing him more but everyone’s out here instalocking Ana and Moira on me since D.Va is so garbage rn)

I still think you’re probably a bit biased against Ana.
You wouldn’t apply the same logic to Rein, would you?
Rein is the third most played hero in the game. He’s played more than D.va, does this mean that Rein is overpowered?

When played to near perfection like GMs can do, sure. Baptiste is a lot stronger at lower ranks.

Plus Amp Matrix is an underwhelming ult which can be good in double barrier but can also have a lot of it’s affect neutered if your base firepower isn’t good enough or the enemy just walks out of it’s LOS. Nanoboost is way more versatile.

I don’t think Baptiste is any better suited to a Double Barrier meta than Ana… frankly, she’s probably better-equipped than he for dealing with heroes like Doomfist, and she counters Moira pretty directly

I do think Ana is too strong, but even if she weren’t, I don’t think it would be surprising if she were picked more than him.

There’s no justification for Ana being broken af.
