Please note that this will not be talking about Moira in game, there will be no complaints or comparisons, this is strictly lore and opinions towards the character out of game.
Moira is by far one of the most interesting and fascinating heroes in overwatch, with a complex lore and hard to follow back story that is still shrouded in mystery. It is unknown still whether Moira was a part of Talon from the very beginning such as the Venice incident or if she was recruited by talon as she shared their interests.
There is a theory that Moira had betrayed blackwatch in the retribution event, which states that she helped talon to augment their troops and give them special genetic abilities, such as the snipers ability to vanish and reappear from smoke, like reaper, or the assassins power to teleport and run at high speeds. Blizzard even released a mission report which even stated that some of the troops had been genetically augmented.
To me this is just amazing, the mystery behind the Talon geneticist and where her true loyalties lie, besides with the furthering of scientific advancement. From what we do know about Moira, which is not a lot, she cares only for her research and making unlocking the mysteries of humanity.
But what stumps me about Moira, is her arm, her fade and her backpack. We know Moira experimented on herself, but what were the outcomes of the experiment itself, was it her arm? if so, where did her fade ability come from, if her fade was the outcome, what happened to her arm, and what is her ability, if its to drain life, what’s the backpack for?
This is why I love the character of Moira, despite being out so long, we still dont know so many things about her and her research. Do you think this will be expanded upon in OW2? Do you think we will find out more about her? do you think she betrayed black watch and what is her mutation? Id love to hear what you guys think of her character.
