Sombra replaced flex dps

Contenders Korea is live right now and they are running Sombra every game on both sites.
She totally replaced the flex dps position, it’s almost exclussively Tracer/Sombra every map.
Pretty happy she is going to get nerfed, cause right now, she is too strong.

It’s not like Tracer, Dv.a, Winston etc are picked everytime on every map but as soon as Sombra is getting thrown into the mix “uh uh, can’t have that, nerf that *****”

An off meta hero is seeing a little bit of use? Can’t have them replacing my boy, Genji! Bring on the sledgehammers!!!11!

Tracer isn’t picked every map though. Confirmation bias showing

I agree that Tracer is overtuned, but there is a huge difference between those heroes.
Tracer is an annoying fly who has the potential to carry.
Sombra literally disables you for 6 seconds.
She is borderline broken when it comes to sucking fun out of a game.

What was that you said about Tracer? You know, the hero that’s basically been a mandatory pick in high competitive since the dawn of time?

Funny how some heroes are allowed to be dominant and meta by default while others seeing play is cause for panic.

Tbh should just delete her and things would be great.

Even the best Sombra in the world can’t rival a Tracer in terms of lethality and midfight sustain. Sombra has as much mobility as Orisa when she’s fighting you. Her only escape tool is a hard disengage that makes the teamfight 5v6 for a few seconds. Tracer on the other hand can be in front and behind you vasically at the same time and her recall gives her back health without leaving the fight.

When Tracer is static in the team comp for the current meta, the flex DPS position usually has the most variety, you can see a McCree, Soldier, Genji, Junkrat, Widowmaker, etc. Having 2 static DPS picks just kills it.

When “sucking fun out of the game” is a reason to nerf certain heroes, Tracer,Genji,Dva etc should have gotten sledgehammer nerfs a long time ago

So why not focus on how Tracer is claiming the permanent spot then? Surely that should be more of a concern…

Oh, no, this is horrible, there was so much variety in the pro games until the Sombra buff. Oh, wait…

Your argument is that because other heroes are dominant, she shouldn’t be nerfed.
So you literally want no hero ever to be nerfed?

But Winston, D.Va, Zenyatta also have permanent spots so having a permanent spot isn’t a problem.

"Pros want Sombra nerfed because Sombra counters dive!"
Lmao.

But that’s the problem…
People are fine with 4 spots being dedicated to the same heroes over and over again. “Sure. No problem. This is fine” but if another hero starts seeing regular play? “This hero is killing the meta. Blizz nerf naou plz”

Not if there’s no statistical reason to do it.

Right now, this thread is still in the world of anecdotes.

It’s not happening in my games, nor any significant number of others on the ladder, which is why I don’t cry for Tracer/Genji/D.Va/Winston nerfs either.

Sombra makes running any other tank difficult and tracer just synergizes too well with those tanks, though we are seeing tracer get replaced by reaper and mccree occasionally for the hack resistance. Sombra has to be nerfed before we can end dive though.

Sombra enables dive to be deadly.

Normally only Tanks and supports enable dive to be this good.
But now you add a dps that enable new dive strats in the mix ???

Tracer doesn’t prevent you from running Orisa/Rein or any other tank/support mix for the matter.
Sombra does ! Running Rein in a good sombre with the new buffs is suicide !

she hasnt been live long enough for the pro players to adapt to her yet.

what we have here is a great example of why hero changes shouldn’t go live for contenders right away.

right now she has the same win % at gm as tracer, with 20% of the pick rate.
