Sombra makes this game unplayable and boring

I dont know why Bliz decided it would be a great idea to make her infinitely invisible. Uninvis, shoot, kill almost immediately, invis and teleport away so theres no way to be punished, repeat. Boring gameplay loop, and a joke of a hero

You know how it is. A lot of people prefer boring heroes. That’s the beauty of Overwatch. There is a character for everyone.

My favorite part is how you can have a dps not contributing at all then they get to swap, for free, and hide invis until they just hold right click on enemy tank.

Instead of complaining about her permanent invisibility, we should focus on addressing Sombra’s real problem!

Sombra is very strong in the lower and mid elo, but absolutely unplayable in higher elo. Any nerf for the lower elos would make Sombra even more unplayable at the top, and buffs would have the exact opposite effect.

Permanent stealth works, as was shown in OW1. What doesn’t work is combining invisibility with damage!

There will always be losers in the Metagame that defines high-tier play- that’s what a Metagame is.
It’s why GOATs happened, it’s why Mirror-Matches happen, and it’s why heroes like Sym have never happened outside of gimmicky teleport plays.

Sombra probably wouldn’t see play even if she was “good” because there are other options that play the meta better.

May as well make the game more fun for everyone else.

Disagree. I think there are certain unhealthy things for the game that need to be addressed. And thinking about rank viability is near meaningless.

Make a good game first.
Then worry about having all your heroes picked.

Because ana, ball, widowmaker. Annoying little girl exists only to keep some op heroes in check

Trade off. We delete Widow and Sombra.

Obviously. Her pickrate was in the gutter until they added virus. And yet people blame literally everything but virus. I wonder why that is? Can you guess the agenda? The reason even Sombra mains want a less viable hero? It has nothing to to do with how easy virus is to use? It just couldn’t have anything to do with it, the main change from the rework. I cannot figure it out despite years of research! What’s the correlation here…

I think all we need is for Sombra to make audible footsteps while invis. And preferably make them a little bit louder since she’s zooming around faster than normal.

And while we’re at it, I think we need better aerial hero noises. Pharah’s jetpacks should ALWAYS be blasting loudly regardless of where she is, and also leave a trail of smoke.

Junkrat is the most ghetto-rigged setup so how come his janky gun isn’t making lots of constant rattling noises for us to hear as he’s blasting through the air faster than Pharah?

Echo needs a little more “whoo” decibels.

I’m a Sombra main myself, or at least I used to be, and I can tell you why I’m not satisfied with Sombra.

Virus: Ever since Virus was introduced, Sombra has become a DPS hero. She was technically classified as a DPS before, but she played more like a support hero. Her damage was always lacking; even though her weapon damage was theoretically high, it was just that—theoretical. She lacked a way to deal quick bursts of damage.

And that’s exactly why I played her! Sombra’s low pick rate initially caught my attention, and the ability to play a support role without being a healer was more interesting to me. Back then, I also had a good tactical understanding and could assess my opponents within a few minutes, predicting when and how they would use their abilities. This allowed me to time my hacks perfectly.

But Sombra isn’t like that anymore. She’s a DPS bot that punishes a lack of teamwork—and does it so effectively that it’s almost foolish not to pick her when you realize the enemy team is playing solo!

This makes her simple and boring.

However, this is just my opinion, as well as the opinion of the people I’m in contact with. It certainly doesn’t apply to all Sombra mains.

The fact is, though, that Sombra punishes a lack of teamwork, and is equally punished herself when the opposing team plays together!

Unfortunately, that won’t work with Sombra! As soon as you incorporate invisibility and give the enemy any kind of information on the target’s location, whether it’s through a visual or auditory cue, you’re only ensuring that good players will discover you while bad players still won’t be able to.

If you had understood my previous post, you’d know that this is already a huge problem for Sombra, and that’s why your suggestion isn’t a solution. I didn’t say for nothing that the main problem with her needs to be addressed before throwing around buffs or nerfs.

Agreed, but it doesn’t matter whether you enjoy Sombra then or now, people will always complain about her because if you kill a Mercy even once out of stealth, the entire world implodes with ‘’ unfair, boring, cheap, delete this hero ‘’ accusations. It doesn’t matter that she has been a bottom tier trash pick for the clear majority of her time since her release, people just take out their ‘’ unfun to play against, toxic hero ‘’ cards and leave it at that.

Trying to debate with the ‘’ this hero needs to be deleted, Sombra players should be bullied and mocked ‘’ or the ‘’ Sombra needs to be nerfed with zero buffs to compensate for it’’ crowd is completely futile.

Theoretically, I agree with you. Let the foolish donkey believe that the grass is blue; intelligent people don’t waste time on that. However, I’ve met a few people who initially seemed like idiots but later turned out to be reasonable. That doesn’t mean we agreed on everything, just that we could understand each other’s arguments. These are the people I’m here for in the forum because they help me broaden my perspective on the topic. No, they won’t convince me that Sombra is strong or that she needs a nerf, but they can share their concerns and issues. If people like that worked together on a Sombra rework with the only restriction being that her identity as a hacker must remain intact, we would have a functioning concept after three months, and she would be ready three months later.

You’re completely wrong though. Sombra has NEVER worked. My favorite version was v1 because she was bad thus niche and deserves to be niche because she’s not a normal playstyle and doesn’t deserve to be free and counterswap friendly.
