so i decided to try and main tank this season and im really enjoying how much potential there is and feeling like im improving, even tho the more i feel i learn the lower my sr goes… but anyway
I just played a game against a sombra
and she had 70 hacks card
I’m telling you I’ve never raged at anyone or been nasty but goddam I came so close this game. I literally felt sweet on the sidal. It’s unreal how disgusting that hero is… I’m spychecking her non stop, so there’s a hog and hanzo freefarming my team… i try to pressure her out, I get emped and wiped. Literally so many times I was in position to neutralize enemy hooks and I get hacked. So many times I’m pushing sombra and hog hooks me and then I get hacked
So many times they peel for sombra and it doesn’t matter if my team force her to translocate out and I matrix her shots to slow down emp, if I’m not hard focusing her 24/7 I get hacked, but if I’m hard focusing sombra then people just get hooked and die.
God this hero is so damn frustrating !!!
idk i got my meds raised and ive been doing amazing in life recently, but jesus christ trying to main tank this season is more toxic than drinking for my mood. Its so unhealthy to play this game…
blizzard its not good enough that you’re deleting these heroes in ow2… its too late
ugh I know this is just a whining post and I’m just bad cant even deal with a sombra hog crossfire but
I just wanna cry in bed no joke that was such a demoralizing game. Constantly hacked and completely powerless to do anything while everyone gets hooked and flanked by mercy pocketed hanzo that I’m not allowed to do anything about
idk its time to take a break from Overwatch. I managed 11 hours playing tank this season in comp… GG
Nah I’d rather shoot myself. I’ve never felt so completely powerless playing a competitive game before and I’m just not about it, I’d rather not play. “just shoot her lol” meanwhile my team gets farmed by the things that are my job to shut down.

The real answer is take up playing her for a bit. You will get a good feel for what she is strong and weak at.
I get she is crazy frustrating, I’m a Sombra / Mei main, so, I am twice as bad as a regular Sombra player. - because I will switch from Mei (if they are stopping me) to Sombra, or from Sombra to Mei.
But, seriously take her up for a while… not only will you have some serious fun (she IS fun as hell), but you will get a really good feel for what shuts her down.
And when she gets shut down, she gets shut down HARD. One of the hardest thing about Sombra as a tank player is she is relatively uncommon, so you don’t have the same level of practice against her.
Just pick her up for a couple of weeks, and you should have more than enough understanding to be able to stop that little hacker but good.
Your team isn’t supporting you enough. Sombra can be frustrating but awareness and teamwork shut her down consistently. If not, it ups her downtime which is always bad on Sombra.
Dva spychecking is a huge frustration for Sombra, but if no one on your team has their eyes peeled for Hog at the same time, it’s on them.
On Sombra, I have that same issue when Doom/Ball are in play at the same time. If I hack one, the other runs amok. At that point, it’s on my team to help me deal with them together.
before anyone says she’s underpowered and underperforming on ladder, I know.
But I’ve never felt this powerless playing a game before. It just makes me miserable to constantly fail my team and not be able to do anything about it, its just no wonder everyone stopped playing tank and the game died when tank gameplay is just that you’re not allowed to play the game and if you try you get punished
dude i play sombra and tank, I know how easy it is to shoot her and to cancel her hack and how annoying it is to play against a good tank who keeps shutting you down. unless you’re like bronze then you shouldn’t have a problem against sombra lol

Hey, haven’t you had games where you just felt like the Tank is about to rage quit?
The team isn’t helping them, and they don’t really know how to stop you, so you just hack them over and over again. I get games like that, I FULLY get where ayembic is coming from.
Or the games where you Mei, and just wall them out from their team, over and over again, and the team doesn’t focus part of the wall to save them?
I mean, I’ve done the hack / emp / hack thing just to make a tank player cry. We all have, you don’t Sombra without doing that at least once.
I get their frustration. You know how to shut down Sombra, because you play her. They don’t, and she can be a REAL mystery to people from the outside.
I picked her up since she was bullying me HARD in some games, and I thought - that hero looks strong (narrator: she wasn’t, but I just didn’t know how to stop her)

Why cant the OWL players counter her… yea I shouldn’t be crying its not that deep. It was just the most miserable game of overwatch I’ve played in years, and I used to get death threats every other game for one tricking sym 2.0
Dva/zarya, so I was just camping hooks and trying to control high ground off angles from their sniper but sombra meant that I couldn’t do any of that and had to hard focus her 24/7. She was literally trying to hack me on cooldown and if I look away after forcing her out, I get hacked within seconds
She had 70 hacks and it wasn’t even a long game, and probably almost all of them were on me lmaoo, I just couldn’t figure out what I needed to do to win, each thing I tried to focus on I just got punished for it
I get this. It makes more sense since it wasn’t solely sombra that caused me to lose, it was sombra, hog and the mercy pocketed sniper crossfire, but Idk if I wanna try and main tank role anymore if I have to rely on my team if they play sombra.
Its not that deep it was just a really bad feeling so I’m gonna stop tanking
then it’s not sombras fault, but the OPs teams fault. depends what rank they’re in but like dude, if you see your tank is getting hacked over and over again then maybe pocket him? or like help him? or group up with him so he won’t get obliterated. which again supports can also be really annoying when having a sombra because some just look at your hacked body while you’re dying indeed of healing you
this shouldn’t ever be the solution in a competitive game tho

Idk I’ll watch OWL vods or something if I can find them cos theyre playing loads of sombra right now and I’ll see how they try to play around it positionally and priority decisions wise
idk you can try that, idk for me watching vods never helped. actually EDIT: it helped only when I was learning heros, like i grinded Fitzys streams to learn sombra and stuff. watching vods never really helped me counter a hero, if you get what I mean.
Sombra has been nothing but an annoyance and frustrating addition to Overwatch in my opinion. People troll with her a lot. In total mayhem there is almost no point in even playing the game if a Sombra is there. If there is 1 character I wish they would kill off in the story or simply not add to OW 2 it would be Sombra.
It sounds like you got smurfed pretty hard to be honest.
Zarya is seriously not that easy target as Sombra. The issue you have as Sombra vs her, is she can stop your hack, and move quite far with her team before you have another chance to have another go at her, and with Sombra you are VERY much against the clock.
One of the things you can do, make sure you walk where she doesn’t have as easier positioning to get to you, she WANTS to hack from high ground, or at least where the rest of your team can’t get LOS on her.
A single Hanzo arrow, and it is over for here. You take a shot from McCree and you have to recall, so you want to hack the tanks OUT of LOS of the rest of the team.
But like, it is hard to get a feel for where those places are as the tank itself, because you see the map in a very different way as the tank.
You usually there are paths you can take where the Sombra just doesn’t have good places to hack from., and usually it is just “which wall do I hug on the way to the fight”
But like, it is hard to explain how you move to really frustrate Sombra’s efforts, you have to get a feel for them.
Watch my language? I hate Sombra. I don’t care about that character at all. If I don’t want her in the story or game that is my opinion. I really do not think she belongs in the game and trust me I’m not the only person that hates Sombra.
Also Hanzo and Junkrat can’t hack me and literally prevent me from controlling my character. I’d rather go against them all day then to play 1 match against Sombra.
