I’m curious how most Sombra players use their translocator in the game (and I don’t mean how to activate it).
How do you mainly use it in your strategy and game tactics?

There isn’t much you can do with it … put it somewhere save near a hacked med pack and translocate to save your ***. Sometime you can use it to get on highground or throw in for a good EMP.
I throw it. Get it??
Well, I have come to realize Sombra’s translocator is essentially a “weapon.”
Honestly the best choice you can make is giving up on Sombra. I hate to say it but a lot of people have.
Honestly do yourself a favor, play Tracer or Soldier. I know that’s not what you want but there’s not much she’s capable of that can’t be done with those two.
I’ve been winning many QP matches with her, but I’m usually matched with bronze level players (when I am now silver).
Maybe they are easy wins? Maybe the other bronze players are smurfs? Idk.
Place translocator somewhere that doesn’t usually see a lot of traffic by enemies, but near enough to a health kit and fairly close to the fighting. Don’t put it too far back; if the enemy gets wise, place it somewhere else.
Cloak, engage the enemy from the back or side, look out for isolated enemies or juicy targets like Bastion or Ball. Hack, sabotage, weaken, but prioritize survival over confirming kills (hopefully your team will capitalize on a lot of targets you leave weakened and hacked)
Use translocator to disengage very often. Try to get away with as much as you can but don’t get greedy and die, because that means way less time applying pressure and building EMP than if you kept bugging out when you hit sub 50% health, or half the enemy team turns to delete you.
My friend is a Sombra main and I love spectating her, and that’s what seems to work for her in her games. Sometimes flankers keep finding her translocator and she has to keep putting it further out of the way for insurance, but never too far from the action. It’s all about balancing safety while maximizing time spent fighting.
I’ve also seen some videos where people toss it around all willy-nilly, using it for straight up mobility and even in the middle of fights like a Tracer blink. You could try doing that instead of just using it as a lifeline, but it seems rather advanced.
Setup on the enemy’s side of the map and be annoying.
If you’re not in a rush, don’t use your translocator, double back instead to check for campers.
If it’s being camped, and you don’t think you can take them on (Taking on McCree in range of his flashbang is suicide), there’s no shame in asking for help.
Add me to that list.
I like to think of two types of translocators:
Other neat stuff:
Also keep in mind that sometimes the best choice isn’t to constantly harass enemy backline; it’s better to protect your own from enemy flankers. Keep your eyes open.
But yeah, play literally any other DPS. Everybody hates playing against Sombra, and Blizzard listens to those people more. They refuse to give her damage for fear of an invisible assassin being just as hated, so they gave her utility instead, but oops, people still hate the utility and Blizzard gimps that as well.
This is exactly what not to do. Translocators should be used aggressively during a team fight to reposition. It’s not a Symetra teleporter. You shouldn’t be setting it up somewhere. If you aren’t comfortable enough (or your aim isn’t very good) to translocate during a skirmish so you can get a better angle on the enemy or attack from the air, then you aren’t skilled enough to play Sombra. Setting the translocator next to a health pack or the spawn and sneaking around in stealth to randomly hack someone happens way too often, and it’s why people think Sombra is bad.
now that u necroed this post let me show u a sombra tactic with her translocator, u want to throw it at your enemies feet so they will have to look down to destroy it, making them vulnerable and unaware of their surroundings for a brief period
